Candidate for the position of Arts and Humanities Faculty - UG - Undergraduate Faculty Convenor

Oscar Welchman

You’ve seen me chair Democratic Procedures Committee, serve drinks behind the SU bar, in clubs and societies (from Yoga to Judo, Skate to Livewire…), and work as a Student Ambassador.

Now, alongside running to be your Environment Officer, I’m looking to become an approachable and collaborative HUM Faculty Convenor!

If I become your faculty convenor, I will focus on the following:

Bringing my Unique Experience to the Role:

  • I’m about to depart on a semester abroad in Tokyo, and I will experience radically different teaching styles, module structures and learning methods
  • My experiences in Japan will enable me to provide a unique perspective in our faculty.

Keeping the Conversation Going:

  • I want to keep a conversation going between us all, about how our courses have been going, what we are struggling with, and what we want to see changed
  • I will be active and dedicated in SSLC meetings, and will keep in close contact with our academic reps and school convenors.
  • I promise I’m approachable, feel free to send me an email, or check out my campaign instagram. J

Being Vocal and Active:

  • I’m a passionate campaigner, and if there’s an issue you want me to fight for, I will work hard at it!
  • I’m not running for this role because there’s one specific issue I want to solve; I’m running because I want to continually work to preserve, sustain, and further improve our faculty, and its connection with us students.
