Don't Duck Voting!

Hi! I’m Erin (she/her) and I’m running for Campaigns & Democracy Officer. I’m very passionate about helping the student community, with experience as LGBTQ+ Officer (2022-2023) and in Democratic Procedures Committee (2022-2024).

I would like to use my previous experience in this position, and devote more time, energy and understanding into helping people and the university. Our community should always be able to express their views, and I want to help maintain a positive and respectful approach for everyone.

4 key things I want to do:

1.      Supporting Student Voices

All student ideas and concerns can and should have the opportunity to be expressed to both the Union and University. I want to create more spaces for respectful discussion throughout our union.

2.      Simplifying Processes

Reassessing and simplifying our democratic and campaigning processes can help ensure our SU is easier to approach and interact with.

3.      Establishing a Democratic Community

I believe that a strong Democratic Community throughout the university will benefit everyone, and allowing for more relaxed discussion before and outside the decision-making process will allow more collaboration.

4.      Activism Presence on Campus

Giving a platform to activists to share their views, gather or express support help highlight the issues and ideas of our community, while maintaining a safe space to get involved.

I believe in this role I can bring a positive and inclusive atmosphere to the whole student community. I am eager to bring my ideas and experience into this role, and to help people however I can.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a lovely day!
