My name is Mikey and I am a 4th year medical student at UEA, and I will be intercalating next year at UEA. I am currently serving as a year 4 academic rep for MED.

Being an academic representative has taught me a lot about representing the views of my colleagues to the faculty which I have found extremely rewarding. I look forward to building on this by being the convenor of the medical school.

In my role as convenor, I plan to bring forward more issues to senior levels of the medical school faculty, as well as at the SU education committee and society executive meetings to bring about positive changes to the cohort I represent. At the SSLC for MED I hope to be able to have a role in co-chairing the meetings with the SPO, while being responsible for the student voice as a whole. I will make sure I have regular communications through Teams and upload the blog on a termly basis.

I also hope to be able to raise ideas about how we can improve equality and diversity in the faculty. I have already contacted the MED senior advisor for wellbeing in my role as academic rep and as convenor of MED, I hope to have a bigger role in improving issues in MED and across the university.

I am very excited for my new potential role as convenor for MED and I hope to improve the educational experience for all of my peers.
