No Dirty Money for Dirty Polluters

Students at UEA gave me the privilige and responsibility of being their Environment Officer for the 2022/2023 academic year, and I am hoping you all will again for the coming academic year. You elected me on the platform of getting the university to cut ties with Barclays, the top financier of fossil fuel companies out of all European banks. UEA, while touting credentials of producing world class climate science, banks with Barclays, and invites Barclays along with other banks that finance the climate crisis to career recruitment events.
I have campaigned for Divest Barclays for years. I came to UEA in 2019 and immediately joined Extinction Rebellion, which I am still a part of. I went on to serve as a non-portfolio officer in the 2020/2021 academic year, sustainability society union council representative in 2021/2022, and your Environment Officer in 2022/2023. With me at the vanguard, student and staff activism successfully pushed Barclays off campus.
This academic year, I joined the newly-formed Biodiversity and Climate Action Network (BCAN) at UEA. If elected to be your Environment Officer again, I will use my position to do the utmost I can to win BCAN's demands, which include the Divest Barclays and Fossil Free Careers campaigns. You can read BCAN's demands in full here: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/bcan-demands.
As a union council representative, I've successfully sponsored motions on Divest Barclays, sustainable travel, and better defining anti-Semitism.
A vote for me is a vote for experience and dedication.
