Hi! My name’s Nathan and I would like to be your NUS delegate!

Last year I was chosen by UEA students to represent them at the NUS conference.  I ran on a platform of fighting fee increases, supporting strikes, decarbonising UEA, and better mental health support!

This past year I’ve been a part-time officer with the SU, fighting hard to open Warm Banks on campus. Throughout my time at UEA, I’ve fought for students - helping to secure an £800 rent rebate in 2021, getting blankets and warm resources for students on campus in 2022, and opening new warm spaces in 2023

Speaking truth to power: I am proud to have been the first SU officer to call for VC to resign or take a 30% pay cut. I’m not afraid to speak up for UEA students when our education is at risk. I won’t shy away from raising UEA’s problems at the NUS conference.

Cost-of-living support: It’s really difficult being a student now - rising rents and bills, and yet student finance doesn’t grow. I’ve fought for student welfare throughout my time at UEA and I’ll press the issue at the next NUS conference! I will make sure our voices are heard.

Protecting underrepresented and marginalised groups: NUS is a great place to meet students from other universities who have effectively uplifted underrepresented groups. I learnt lots from these students last year and, if elected it would be great to apply new ideas and solutions to UEASU in the future!

Tackling Antisemitism in NUS: As a society president, I’ve worked to create a more inclusive atmosphere, ensuring Jewish students are welcome.  I have read the NUS’ report on antisemitism and will be able to effectively discuss this at the conference.
