Hi, I'm Padraig, I am a third year politics student and an active trade union member since 16.

As a non-portfolio officer, I would like to focus on helping students who are working alongside their studies, be it at the SU, Univeristy or beyond. I am trained in Union Organising by the American Labour Organiser Jane McAlevey via the Organising4Power group and Industrial Workers of the World. I am commited to helping students recognise when they are being underpaid, overworked and mistreated. Then giving those students the guidance and tools to fight for the working conditions they deserve. 

There are several ways in which I would do this:

• Hosting workshops with Union Organisers and carded representatives, who can offer insights and advice on your rights and how to organise your workplace.
• Anonymous submission points for your concerns at work, be it at the SU or elsewhere, which I will address on social media or privately (depending on what you prefer) and feedback to the SU and University directly.
• Create a network for students working whilst at UEA in order to share their experiences and advice.
