Halloween Bat Walk!

Monday 31 October 2022, 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Outside School of Biological Science on the walkway

Come see some bats around the campus with us!

We're going to meet outside the south side of the School of Biological Sciences at 5.30. To get here, follow the raised walkway from Zest / the Main Square all the way down to the far end, we'll also drop a pin in our group chat nearer the time (link to gc is https://chat.whatsapp.com/LlEYtu19fjx3CUac4zfRbN  if you aren't in it yet). We'll head around the lake.

The walk is going to be co-led by Professor Iain Barr, who's an expert in Bats and can help us to identify them. We will be using bat detectors to hear them, and hopefully be able to see them as well (if you have a powerful torch I strongly recommend bringing it). We would typically hope to see three or four species of Bats in late October, possibly including Soprano and Common Pipistrelle, Daubentons and Brown Long-eared Bat: the rare Barbastelle Bat is also a possibility!

The walk will finish at about 7.30. So there should be plenty of time to go to your Halloween parties afterwards!

Tickets are free, but because the walk is at night we need to keep numbers to safe limit, so please purchase one if you intend to come along, and let us know if you purchase one but won't be able to attend.
