  • What is the Skate Society?

By becoming a member you will be added to the society GC, where members can ask each other questions, discuss skateboarding, ask for tips, and see if anyone is free for a skate! If you have questions about the society, or skateboarding in general!, we would love to talk :) Message our instagram @ueask8, or email our president, Oscar Ratcliffe: frj20sfu@uea.ac.uk

  • What happens in the society, aside from skateboarding?

Skateboarding, whether you are aware of it or not, has had a massive influence on popular culture. Our socials will have a loose theme of celebrating this fact, with skate-film movie nights, collaborations with other societies, and board customisation nights.

  • I have never skateboarded before, but I am interested in learning and trying it out. Can I sign up?

?Skateboarding is less about ability, and more about having fun on the board. We have spare complete skateboards, as well as safety gear, and absolutely welcome people who have never tried skateboarding before, in fact most of the society is typically made up with people that have no previous experience!

  • When are the skate sessions, and where?

We host a weekly practice session at Eaton park skatepark (10min walk away from central UEA campus). This happens every Monday from 4-7pm, weather permitting!

The session will be a workshop to improve our skills, as well as to socialize with other students, and get clips for our yearly video! The session is usually followed by a drink to hydrate and relax afterwards.

  • How do I stay up to date with the society?

By becoming a member you will be added to the society GC, where members can ask each other questions, discuss skateboarding, ask for tips, and see if anyone is free for a skate!

If you have questions about the society, or skateboarding in general!, we would love to talk :) Message our instagram @ueask8, or email our president, Oscar Ratcliffe: frj20sfu@uea.ac.uk

  • How much does it cost?

There's a £3 membership fee, which goes towards the costs of equipment and events, helping us to make the most of our community.
