Welcome, both budding and established photographers!
We are the the UEA's Photography Society and we take pride in our society. Our hope is to create a community that works towards uplifting each other to new levels within photography, as well as competing with each other in monthly competitions - As that drive also means that people will look to improve upon their skills!
We accept anyone and everyone, from beginners to amateurs to professionals in whichever field you practice.
You don't need a big, fancy or expensive camera to produce good photos, most of the time you just need a clear understanding of the 'Exposure Triad' (and if you don't yet, we've got you), a creative mind and a little bit of editing underneath your wings to take off!
Our main goals for the Photography Society this year are:
- Monthly themes - with videos to help support people towards concepts surrounding these themes.
- Regular Photography meetups - the perfect opportunity to meet other photographers and take some photos!
- Photo Competitions (with prizes) - we would love everyone involved with competitions so you have something to put on a portfolio (we might even help you get them published...)
- Sharing resources & learn through online content - learn even more from awesome professionals!
- Collaborations with other societies - for those who are particularly confident in their skill or just want to give different kinds of photography a good (e.g. food photography) we have plans towards that.
We strive for this to be one of the most relaxed, laid-back, creative and fun societies provided at the University!

Please be advised that by attending any event hosted by the UEA Photography Society, or by purchasing membership to the society, you both implicity and explicity consent to being photographed at any and all events with the express intent of using these photographs for promotional purposes at our discression. If you would like to revoke this consent you must do this prior to any photographs of you being used by us, as we will not be willing to retroactively remove you from photographs. We will endevour to verbally remind you of the consent you have given at every event, however this will only serve as a verbal reminder, as this text serves as the formal notice. You have also consented to your likeness being used by any societies when you agreed to the Terms & Conditions of the University of East Anglia and the University of East Anglia Student's Union, as well as if you join the society. Please also note that your legal 'Reasonable Right to Privacy' (as outlined in Article 8 of the 1998 Human Rights Act) does not extend to attending a voluntary event and, as such, with or without your consent we would be completely within our right to post your photos. This area of commercial photography is governed by the 1988 Copyright, Designs and Patents Act, which gives us (as both the photographer of the event and the event organisor) complete ownership and control of the photographs taken at said event. This gives us the right to publically display, sell, edit, communicate or repurpose any photographs we take at our events, which we reserve the rights to exercise at any time.
