If you are looking to play a physical, high contact sport and want to learn from quality trained and qualified coaches, then the UEA Pirates is the right place for you. We offer a compelling programme suitable for all experience levels. If you are a seasoned pro or completely new to the sport and looking to try something new, have prior experience with contact sport or have a track and field background, we want you!
Don’t fancy the contact? We now have Flag American Football running alongside our main team allowing everyone to get involved with events running in the year for you to compete in.

The Real Cost of Sport
The 'Real Cost of Sport' initiative, a project reviewed and rebranded by the Students' Union in partnership with uea+sport, aims to provide prospective members with a comprehensive overview of the potential costs of joining their chosen sports club. This year, we as a committee have worked closely with the clubs to ensure these tables are as accurate and up-to-date as possible. In the table below we have broken down the cost of everything in hope of you being able to know what to fully expect. There are also links to websites that we recommend if you are in need of buying quality first hand gear.

This guide is intended to serve as a general reference. The compulsory cost includes the uea+sport membership fee of £55, which is a one-time payment that covers membership across all clubs. Also, please be aware that the above costs are subject to change and apply solely to sporting expenses. Therefore meaning they do not include any potential social costs, such as Sports Night event or Balls (unless specifically noted).
When considering additional expenses, it is important to note that some clubs may not have any extra costs, while others might incur additional fees. These costs often depend on the level of competitiveness within the sport; recreational or social participation is generally less expensive. Additionally, some equipment, such as shoes or gum shields, may be used across multiple sports, potentially reducing overall expenses.
