And Then Come The Nightjars premiered at the Chichester Film Festival in August where it won the Audience Award for Best Independent Film. It has received 4 star reviews across the board and is currently in contention for a BAFTA nomination. It has been on general release in the UK since 1st Sept screening at over 75 cinemas.
Adapted for the screen from Devon writer Bea Robert’s multi award winning stage play And Then Come The Nightjars tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a Devon farmer and the vet who is assigned to cull his precious herd. It was shot on a Dartmoor working farm using a local crew and supporting cast and the story was inspired by real events from Robert’s Devon childhood. It is a heart-warming and funny tale of friendship and survival.
