DEV Women of Colour Employability Event
Tuesday 02 May 2023, 5pm - 7pm
JULIAN STUDY CENTRE (JSC) 1.03
In partnership with DEV Employability, we’re holding a DEV Women of Colour Employability Event to celebrate the achievements of women+ in DEV. It’ll be on Tuesday 2nd May from 5pm to 7pm in Julian Study Centre (JSC) 1.03.
We will have talks from DEV women of colour on their experiences in working in DEV and about the inclusivity of the sector. Speakers will include Koshesai Fundira, Faryal Gohar, and Renee Karunungan.
Faryal Gohar: I completed an MSc in Climate Change and International Development at UEA. Currently, I’m a manager at the Climate Group, leading bilateral global projects on developing capacities of the states and regional governments from creating GHG emission inventories, to strengthening measurement, reporting and verification capacities, and driving Just transition.
Renee Karunungan: I finished my Masters in Media and International Development from UEA and my PhD in Political Communication at Loughborough University. I'm a science communicator at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, but recently I've become a communications consultant for the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations.
Koshesai Fundira: I’m currently an MSc student in International Development with Conflict and Humanitarian Action at the University of Bath. After graduating from UEA in 2021, I spent a year travelling and working for the charity Ripple Effect. I love working in the development sector because it gives me a sense of purpose and satisfaction that I’m doing something worthwhile.
We will also provide a selection of refreshments and snacks for you to enjoy! Options for vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements will be provided.
Please make sure to get your free ticket above! This will allow us to cater to the right number of students.
This event is open to all students, including DEV and non-DEV students.
