Hi everyone, my name is Nia, and I hope to be your next Social Science Faculty Convenor! 

As a second year Global Development student, I value the importance of growth and advocacy, and aim to bring that with me to the role. As a current DEV Course Rep, I understand the responsibilities needed to enhance the student experience within SSF, and the steps required to advocate for change. Within my role I hope to: 

1. Promote Inclusion and Diversity 

• Convene with Student of Colour Ambassadors regularly to ensure issues impacting Students of Colour are advocated for  

• Encourage the inclusion of modules that promote diversity and aid in decolonizing the SSF curriculum  

2. Discourse and Active Listening  

• Promote an environment where students feel their thoughts and opinions are heard and respected  

• Acknowledge and apply the opinions of students, to foster a system of active listening that people can rely on 

3. Maintenance of Student Experience  

• Aim to maintain the SSF student experience despite cuts to courses and modules 

• Fight for SSF student spaces to be protected  

• Ensure transparency throughout the entire process, keeping you clearly informed 

I am truly passionate about these objectives and ensuring an overall more inclusive learning environment within the Social Science Faculty and establishing a reinforced sense of representation within important educational meetings on behalf of the entire faculty.
