Anouk: a new ERA of education!

Anouk Jones - for a new ERA of education!

Hi everyone, I'm running to be your 2024/25 Undergraduate Officer! I'm a third year Politics and IR student, passionate advocate, and social activist. I've absolutely loved my time at UEA but have been feeling like many of you that we are overdue a strong positive shift in our education and experience — this is where I come in!

Why Me?

I am a passionate, and vocal individual who has been involved in union council and student activism both on and off campus. I've been a student ambassador and on committee for the Greens for two years, which has boosted my leadershiporganisation, and commitment to taking action!

My Goals: Evolve, Represent, Amplify!

With over 10,000 undergraduates at UEA, my goals and aims are outlined below to be relevant to all of your education experiences.

Evolve Our Academic Community!

Ensuring that your academic services are protected and improved: For PAL, LET, and especially academic advisors, I will ensure consistency in support; students should not be "getting unlucky" and missing out on these services.

Increasing your course quality: Verifying that blackboard is being effectively usedassessments are being fairly communicated, and lecture recordings are standardised are just a few of the areas that I'll focus on.

Represent Your Needs!

Collaborating with MED and HSC to improve your placements: For 25% of the student body, your placements make up a critical portion of your degree and I want to make sure no one is left unsupported. I pledge to lobby for the improvement of transport logistics, advanced communication in scheduling, and wellbeing support throughout.

Empowering PTO'sEvery year, a wonderful team of PTO's are elected, and through collaborating with these specific reps, your education will be tailored to you. Following through with ideas to improve services, and implement reforms to increase representation of marginalised groups will be my priority.

Amplify Your Voices & Achievements!

Hosting regular in-person feedback sessions: it's time to go beyond scheduled meetings and email threads, I want to listen and take action on your concerns and will do so face-to-face!

Strengthening academic reps and convenorsReps and convenors play such an important role in undergraduate education, and I want to review this system to ensure that we are prioritising your input.

I will continue to support the decolonisation of the curriculum and ensure that the democratic structures of the SU are best equipped to tackle academic issues. This is your voice, and your SU! Thank you so much for your time and reach out to me on IG: @anouk4undergrad - I want to hear your ideas!
