New Fire Catholic Charismatic Society (NFCCS) is a student community fully rooted in the Roman Catholic faith, with a special focus on charismatic prayer and worship. We gather for music-led praise, Scripture reflection, fellowship, and moments of encounter with the Holy Spirit. Our mission is to help students deepen their relationship with God and recognise the gifts He has placed within each of us.
Guided by the Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control- we aim to build a community where these virtues can grow and shape daily life. We believe charismatic prayer is a hopeful and life-giving expression of Catholicism: a space where joy is shared openly, peace is experienced deeply, and love becomes an active force. Taking inspiration from Pope Francis, who describes the Charismatic Renewal as “a current of grace in the Church and for the Church,” we want NFCCS to live out that grace in our worship, our friendships, and our service.
We believe the Holy Spirit equips each person with unique gifts from leadership to music, from hospitality to spiritual intercession all meant to build up the Church and the wider world. As a society, we will help students walk with the Spirit, grow in confidence, and discover how the Fruits of the Spirit can flourish in their lives. In the words of Pope John Paul II, the Charismatic Renewal is “a special gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church in our time,” awakening joy, love for the Church, and a renewed dedication to mission. We hold this truth at the heart of our mission: that each student carries gifts meant not just for personal growth, but for service, unity, and transformation.
Pope Benedict XVI reminds us that the Spirit’s charisms are “not a historical event of the past, but a reality ever alive,” and NFCCS seeks to honour that living reality on campus encouraging students to grow, lead, serve, and become instruments of God’s grace today.
As a community, we will:
• Create a welcoming space where students can encounter God in a personal and transformative way.
• Build friendships rooted in faith, openness, and trust.
• Serve local Catholic communities, partnering with parishes, charities, and youth groups.
• Give back through outreach, acts of generosity, and Spirit-led service.
• Support one another in living Christ-like lives on campus and beyond.
• Empower young leaders, helping members grow in courage, vision, and spiritual maturity.
We aim to be a society that not only prays together, but acts together- bringing the light, joy, and hope of the Holy Spirit into our university, our parishes, and our everyday lives. Whether you’re familiar with charismatic spirituality or simply curious, you are warmly welcome to join us.
