It’s your regular council catch up on here so I just wanted to highlight what happened on the 13th February!
We had David Richardson, the Vice Chancellor , Sarah Barrow (Pro Vice Chancellor for the Arts and Humanities), and Frances Bowen (Pro Vice Chancellor for the Social Sciences Faculty) talk through the university’s ongoing work and answered questions on the strike, Kathleen Stock’s seminar, and the SU finances.
We then went through the Full Time Officer and Part Time Officer Reports and discussed what I’ve been up to over the last month including (You can read my full council update here):
- Updating Council on my work related to accommodation and the successful conversations around implementing the affordability factor and creating a Understanding of Memorandum
- The work I have been doing around the democratic restructures
- Womens+ History Month planning including the organising of Reclaim the Night
We then went through the only motion of the evening which was approved: Oh, the still beautiful guillotine (Amendment to Policy 1769A: ‘Oh the beautiful guillotine.’
We then approved four new societies:
- Welfare for Healthcare
- Art, Media, and American Studies Society
- UN Women
- UEA Gingers
It was absolutely fantastic to see so many of you, and see you engage and ask the executive team of the university plenty of questions!
