3. To get exclusive access to the Student Leadership programme run by the SU. This programme includes a whole host of extra activities for you to engage in. 

4. To develop skills. You will develop a whole new skillset and improve skills you didn’t even realise you had! Whether it’s chairing a meeting, coaching a team or being an event manager, you will be able to hone these skills ready for later life. 

5. Because it looks amazing on your CV. Graduate employers look for these types of roles and the skills they show that you’ve developed on applications. They are a proven catalyst for job prospects. 

6. Because you’ll get all the support you need. At the Students’ Union, we will support you through your whole year as a committee member. If there’s ever a problem to be sorted or celebration to be had then we are here to help you. 

7. To become a part of a community. The communities of student engaged in clubs and societies are tight-knit. You will meet others in other different roles across the University and make new friends in the process. 

8. To be eligible for awards! The Union and University both have awards schemes that you could be in the race to win as a committee member. 

9. To change the way the union works. As a committee member, you can influence how the union is run and the way it supports societies and clubs.
