Elections Budget

To make sure that every candidate has the same resources and no-one has an unfair advantage, the SU sets limits to how much candidates can spend. There is a different budget for full-time officer candidates, part-time officer candidates and convenor candidates.

You must keep track of how much you are spending and what you are spending it on - so keep your receipts! Once the election is over, you must submit this information to the SU by printing, completing and returning an expenses form. You must submit this spending information or you could end up being disqualified - and if you don't submit your expenses information, we won't be able to refund you.

You do not need to expense anything which the SU provides – for example, if you choose to attend the banner making workshop, you do not need to expense materials used.

Please ensure you read the election rules here before you spend!

Election Budget - 2024

  • Full-Time Officers - £40
  • Part-Time Officers - £20
  • Convenors - £20

This is the maximum that any candidate can spend on their campaign. All money spent on your campaign must be expensed. You may not spend over this amount or you will risk facing sanctions.

Expenditure will be reimbursed only where receipts are provided. Please keep a hold of any receipts for campaign related spend and attach these to your expenses form. The deadline for candidate expenses is 14th March at 1pm. An expenses form will be sent to all candidates following the close of nominations.
