Memberships

The activities and opportunities we provide at UEA Students’ Union are predominantly for current students studying at the University of East Anglia. However, we recognize that individuals that are not currently UEA students may also want to participate in a selection of our activities. 

Below are the different membership types we offer and guidance on how to apply for them.  

Memberships

Associate Membership

An associate membership is a membership option that is available for individuals who are not currently a UEA student to become a member of uea(su), subject to eligibility. As an Associate Member, you would then become eligible to purchase membership for our clubs and societies, subject to eligibility and group approval. 

We offer associate memberships for: 

  • UEA Alumni  
  • UEA Members of Staff  
  • Current students studying at Norwich University of the Arts  
  • Current students at other UK-based Higher Education institutions  

If you do not fall into any of above categories, unfortunately we will not be able to progress your application.

NUA Students

If you have any queries about Associate Memberships, please email us for support at union.opportunties@uea.ac.uk. We are also available in-person at the UEA(SU) Office upstairs in the Hive during business hours 9am-5pm weekdays).

Under 18s

If you are a current UEA student under 18 years old, you may still become a member to nearly all clubs and societies, but you will need consent from a parent or guardian.  

Please first complete our Under 18s form and send it to union.opportunities@uea.ac.uk.

Once we receive this document, we will get in touch with the committee members of the relevant clubs/societies to ensure they are happy to have an Under 18 member in their group. Following their approval, we will then set you up to purchase memberships to the clubs & societies you want to join.

Current UEA students

If you are a current UEA student, you are automatically a member of UEA Students’ Union.  

In order join any of our student-led societies, please purchase a membership on each society’s respective page. You can do this and view the full catalogue of currently active societies on this page. 

To join a sports club, you must first purchase a base membership to UEA Sport. You can then purchase memberships to any specific sports clubs of your interest.
