Let's Talk By-elections
The uea(su) by-elections are held near the start of each academic year to fill any roles that were not filled in the spring main elections. Any student can nominate themselves to become one of our SU volunteers! As a member of our team, you will have access to our SU Office, and receive the support of our staff to run any projects and campaigns that can enhance the students' experience. Some roles even include mentorship programs, certificates and recommendations to add to your CV!

To run in the by-elections, become a student representative, and one of our valued volunteers, you need to nominate yourself for one of the vacant positions below. Nominations open on the 27th of October! Read the descriptions for the roles and decide which one you're most interested in. Once nominations are open, you can nominate yourself using the link below.

Non-Portfolio Officer
Vacanies: 2
Fulfil duties outlined in their manifesto, adhering to Union policy and the strategic plan. Non-Portfolio officer do not hold specific remits – you can lead and a campaign on any issue you chose, as long it does not overlap with the remits of portfolio officers.
Black Students' Officer
Vacanies: 1
Advocate for the interests and challenges faced by Black students within the university community. Collaborate with the university and relevant organisations to drive positive changes that benefit Black students. Foster connections with clubs, societies, and peer support groups to address and meet the unique needs of Black students.
LGBT+ Officer (Open Place)
Vacanies: 1
Represent the interests of LGBT+ students, addressing their unique challenges at university. Engage with the University and relevant organizations to drive improvements for LGBT+ students. Liaise with relevant clubs, societies, or peer support groups.
LGBT+ Officer (Trans & Non Binary Place)
Vacanies: 1
Represent the interests of LGBT+ students, addressing their unique challenges at university. Engage with the University and relevant organizations to drive improvements for LGBT+ students. Liaise with relevant clubs, societies, or peer support groups.
International Officers (Non-EU and EU):

The Postgraduate Committee is made up of six elected postgraduate representatives and four of the full-time elected officers, as well as a part-time officer chosen by the Student Officer Committee. The Committee take part in decisions on allocating the SU's PG budget, organising events and campaigns, and use of the Graduate Centre.
