If you have any concerns about this, please email su.voice@uea.ac.uk

What roles are available?
The political leadership of the Students' Union is made up of five FTOs (Full-Time Officers) and seventeen PTOs (Part-Time Officers). Each officer has their own remit and interests and run on a manifesto: a set of promises they make to the student body of what they will do if elected to the role.
School and Faculty convenors contribute to student representation in their schools and faculty. They make sure that the thoughts and opinions of students are heard and acted upon, and work with academics and faculty staff to ensure that the student experience of education is a positive one. They also run on a manifesto, that lays out the improvements they aim to make if elected to the role.
Do you know someone who would make a fantastic student leader? Recommend them for nomination here.
officer role descriptions
Each position has a specific role, as defined by the by-laws.
Full-time Officers: Elected FTOs get a break from their studies to work full-time for one year with the Students' Union. You can also run for the position during your final year, and be a Full-Time Officer the year after you graduate. The position of FTO is a full-time job, and so elected FTOs receive a salary as a result. They sign a contract that includes benefits, and even VISA is sorted for international students.
There are five FTO positions that you can run for:
1. Activities and Opportunities Officer
2. Undergraduate Education Officer
3. Postgraduate Officer
4. Campaigns and Democracy Officer
5. Community and Culture Officer
Part-time Officers: Elected PTOs have the same political power as an FTO, however they continue with their studies as normal and as such carry out their roles part-time and are volunteers for the Union. Though PTOs are not paid, they do have the opportunity to attend training days, team-building activities, and networking opportunities that can be added to their CV.
There are seventeen PTO positions that you can run for:
1. Environment Officer
2. Ethical Issues Officer
3. Non-Portfolio Officers (x4)
4. Women's Officer
5. LGBT+ Officer (Open Place)
6. LGBT+ Officer (Trans and Non-Binary Place)
7. Students with Disabilities Officer (Physical Disabilities Place)
8. Students with Disabilities Officer (Invisible Disabilities Place)
9. Students with Disabilities Officer (Open Place)
10. Students of Colour Officer
11. Black Students Officer
12. Mature Students Officer
13. International Student Officer (EU Place)
14. International Student Officer (Non-EU Place)
convenor role descriptions
School Convenors: School Convenors are responsible for representing the students within their specific school (both undergraduates and postgraduates). They attend Student Experience Panels (SEPs), where they discuss students’ concerns and ideas to improve their school experience and ensure that solutions are found and that the feedback loop is closed.
Faculty Convenors: Faculty Convenors represent students at the faculty level. They are responsible for raising concerns that affect students across multiple schools within a faculty. Faculty Convenors ensure that students' voices are heard in both SEPs and Faculty Learning, Teaching, and Quality Committees (FLTQCs).
