Executive Committee

What is the Executive Subcommittee?

The Executive Committee is a sub-committee of the UEA50. It is made up of Full-Time and Part-Time Officers elected by the SU's members. They meet in a casual capacity every two weeks and in a formal meeting setting approximately once a month in term-time.

What does the Executive Subcommittee do?

The Executive Committee check over ideas and motions passed through the UEA50 for anything that may be financially, reputationally or legally damaging to the SU or the University. They have the power to finally check over and approve UEA50 motions- or to send them back to the UEA50 for re-debate with detailed notes. They may only send back motions for re-consideration based on financial, reputational or legal reasons. If an agreement between the UEA50 and Executive Committee cannot be reached, an all student referenda will be called after attempts at mediation.

They also discuss Officer Projects, and apply for funding for these through the Executive Committee meetings. They also have other powers, such as advising on Union matters when consulted (as do the other sub-committees) and deciding on the need for by elections to any vacant roles within the Executive Committee.
