We have a wide range of activities on offer
- learn to sail and complete RYA qualifications under the guidance of our instructors
- come along to sports night, pizza making, laser tag, or more of our fantastic socials
- spend a relaxing afternoon on the broads and make some new friends at recreational sailing
- hone your skills and learn to race during our training sessions
- compete on the UK team racing tour and represent UEA at national competitions as part of our performance program

Tasters
Want to give sailing a go or simply have some fun on the water? At the start of term we will be running taster sessions for all abilities. There will be experienced sailors and members of the committee there to support and answer any questions you may have, with all transport provided.
Recreational Sessions
Our recreational sessions are open to any level from having never sailed or even been on a boat, to very experienced sailors who have competed and won national events. Rec sessions are a fantastic way to get into the world of sailing and have fun. These sessions are aimed at taking you from a complete beginner to a confident sailor. Through these sessions you can also complete and earn your RYA level 1 and 2 which is a worldwide recognised qualification. We also offer the opportunity to members to earn their RYA Powerboat level 2 qualification. Overall, our rec sessions are aimed at being inclusive and fun allowing all skill levels to take part and progress their skills on the water.

Our rec sessions take place every Saturday 12pm-4pm
Training Sessions
Fancy racing? UEA offers it all from fleet racing, team racing, match racing and yachting. So whatever gets your competitive streak going, there's a spot for you.
Team racing is our biggest and most popular discipline, and honestly the most fun. We travel to events all year round at every level, sending up to 3 teams so there's always a spot for you regardless of experience. It's raced in Fireflies (2-person double-handed dinghies) 3 boats a side, going head-to-head using tactics and rules knowledge to work the race in your team's favour. This year we managed an amazing 2nd place at the Team Racing Finals
Fleet racing is just as popular, with the BUCS Fleet Racing Championship a major highlight every November. Outside of university competition, UEA sailors love heading to Firefly Opens throughout the year and, best of all, the Firefly National Championships each summer.
We also hold strong results in BUCS Match Racing (1v1 head-to-head) and BUCS Yachting (fleet racing out on the Solent) this year we came 1st in the Coastal Race and 2nd in the Inshore Race.
Training Sessions
Every Wednesday, 1pm–5pm
Higher-intensity sessions focused on sharpening racing skills. Open to everyone from seasoned racers pushing for more, to complete beginners who just want to give racing a try.

The Real Cost of Sport
The 'Real Cost of Sport' initiative, a project reviewed and rebranded by the Students' Union in partnership with uea+sport, aims to provide prospective members with a comprehensive overview of the potential costs of joining their chosen sports club. This year, I have worked closely with the clubs to ensure these tables are as accurate and up-to-date as possible.
This guide is intended to serve as a general reference. The compulsory cost includes the uea+sport membership fee of £55, which is a one-time payment that covers membership across all clubs.
When considering additional expenses, it is important to note that some clubs may not have any extra costs, while others might incur additional fees. These costs often depend on the level of competitiveness within the sport; recreational or social participation is generally less expensive. Additionally, some equipment, such as shoes or gum shields, may be used across multiple sports, potentially reducing overall expenses.
