Welcome to UEA Baseball & Softball!
We are the UEA BlueSox! Our members come from diverse backgrounds, academic fields and levels of study. We run a cohesive club that plays two different sports, but practice both together. Whether you're a seasoned player or a first timer, whatever your level of skill, you'll find plenty of opportunity to grow, develop and enjoy the game.
We believe that a strong sense of team spirit is essential to our success both on and off the field. We run regular socials throughout the year, giving everyone a chance to get to know each other, have fun and get involved with the club.
So, whether you're looking to sharpen your skills, make new friends, or just have a good time, there’s a place for you in the UEA BlueSox!

Baseball
With Baseball we welcome all players regardless of experience. We have a co-ed team that plays regular fixtures in the BUCS Midlands division across both semesters.
We also play in the Norfolk Baseball League, this typically runs from March through to June and is a shining of example of what it means to play baseball during the Spring and early Summer months.
We have qualified for the UK University Baseball Championships every year since it's inclusion in BUCS, placing 2nd in 2022, 3rd in 2023 and 2nd in 2025.
Training:
Monday: 16:20-18:00 – INDOOR (Sportspark Hall 1)
Wednesday: 13:00-16:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)
Saturday: 13:00-16:00 – OUTDOOR (Colney Lane)

Softball
For softball, we have a mixed, co-ed group that trains weekly indoors and outdoors. In addition to organising friendlies against local sides, we compete across the year in the BUCS Midlands Division for both indoor and outdoor softball. At the BUCS University Softball Championships we placed 4th out of 12 universities in 2022 and 2023.

The Real Cost of Sport
The 'Real Cost of Sport' initiative, a project reviewed and rebranded by the Students' Union in partnership with uea+sport, aims to provide prospective members with a comprehensive overview of the potential costs of joining their chosen sports club. This year, I have worked closely with the clubs to ensure these tables are as accurate and up-to-date as possible.

This guide is intended to serve as a general reference. The compulsory cost includes the uea+sport membership fee of £55, which is a one-time payment that covers membership across all clubs.
When considering additional expenses, it is important to note that some clubs may not have any extra costs, while others might incur additional fees. These costs often depend on the level of competitiveness within the sport; recreational or social participation is generally less expensive. Additionally, some equipment, such as shoes or gum shields, may be used across multiple sports, potentially reducing overall expenses.
For any specific questions or further information about a particular club, please contact the club directly or contact us at union.opportunities@uea.ac.uk for more details about the project.
All the best,
Olivia Hunt
