Information
UEA Archery offers the opportunity for UEA students/alumni to take part in archery regardless of skill level. We cater to complete beginners, providing all the equipment and fantastic coaches that can help you learn the basics and grow your skills as quickly as you want. We offer fun and relaxed sessions with a sociable atmosphere so everyone can take part and have fun without any pressure on performance.
Please note that photos may be taken during sessions and used for the club's social media pages. If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please contact a member of the committee and inform them of this.

With weekly training sessions (described in detail below), you will be supported on your archery journey by our coaches and members of committee. We also provide club equipment, so you only need to bring yourself! However, as you progress you may find yourself wishing to purchase your own equipment and develop your shooting skill to a higher level. If that's the case, then between our club/committee members and coaches there'll always be someone to point you in the right direction.
Introducing our new Boost Beginners Course for 2025; this is a course that teaches and reinforces the basics of the sport, which takes place in the first half of our Wednesday sessions. Lead by an experienced level 4 coach, any archer will greatly benefit from this. Please note, there is limited availability for this course but it will be run multiple times throughout the year.
Every 4 weeks, we will be running our casual Monthly Internal League - open to people of all abilities - which gives you the chance to compete against everyone else in the club. Don't worry, scores are handicapped, so an inexperienced archer still has a high chance of winning against more experienced archers!
Throughout the year, we have multiple chances to go to competitions (such as SEAL, BUCS and the local league). For these, a group of both novices and experienced archers will be taken. This is something that many of our archers enjoy, and gives the chance to connect with archers from other clubs, gain more knowledge, and win trophies!
Included with our standard membership is a free Archery GB Membership (worth £60!), allowing you to take part in tournaments and more!
We also often do fun socials, as well as themed shoots (which may involve shooting a grinch head)!

The Real Cost of Sport
The 'Real Cost of Sport'initiative, a project reviewed and rebranded by the Students' Union in partnership with uea+sport, aims to provide prospective members with a comprehensive overview of the potential costs of joining their chosen sports club. This year, I have worked closely with the clubs to ensure these tables are as accurate and up-to-date as possible.

This guide is intended to serve as a general reference. The compulsory cost includes the uea+sport membership fee of £60, which is a one-time payment that covers membership across all clubs.
When considering additional expenses, it is important to note that some clubs may not have any extra costs, while others might incur additional fees. These costs often depend on the level of competitiveness within the sport; recreational or social participation is generally less expensive. Additionally, some equipment, such as shoes or gum shields, may be used across multiple sports, potentially reducing overall expenses.
For any specific questions or further information about a particular club, please contact the club directly or contact us at union.opportunities@uea.ac.uk for more details about the project.
All the best,
Olivia Hunt
