Rishi Kotru

When Rishi's in SU, He Gotchu!

My name is Rishi (he/him), and I am running for 2024/25 Activities and Opportunities Officer!

UEA has been my home for the past three years. It has always shown its students the love and respect they deserve; I care about UEA’s image and want our standards to go above and beyond, sports-wise and culturally. I believe I will be able to do this if I am elected.

Why you should vote for me?

I am an extremely passionate and energetic individual, and whatever work I do, I always love to be consumed by it because this shows how much I care about it. If you ever have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, I'm all ears!

My Experience

  • I am the Union Council Representative and Equality and Diversity Officer for the Malaysian Society.

  • Team captain for the school of psychology in the UEA Ziggurat Challenge.

As an activity and Opportunities Officer, I plan on working on the following ideas:

24/7 gym: To those who love to work out and find a way to streamline fitness in all students on campus.

  • Offering round-the-clock access to cater to students' diverse schedules, ensuring convenience for those balancing university and part-time work.

  • With a separate entry, it streamlines fitness for all campus-goers, enabling them to work out at their preferred times.

Higher discount for UEA sports members (20%)

  • Offering a 20% discount for UEA sports members aims to incentivise greater participation in sports clubs, attracting more students to engage in physical activities and fostering a sense of community.

  • This initiative promotes financial savings and shows the university's dedication to student well-being.

More university funds going to the societies that plan many well-thought-out cultural events!

  • Increasing university funding for societies that organise well-thought-out cultural events promotes cultural enrichment, diversity, and inclusion on campus.

  • The university fosters greater student engagement, participation, and educational opportunities by supporting these initiatives, enriching the campus experience.

Make the event go-global-free for committee members, as they are the ones who put in the effort to make it fabulous as usual

  • Making the event go-global-free for committee members recognizes their dedication and effort in organizing and executing a fabulous event.

  • This initiative enhances motivation among committee members who work tirelessly to prepare food stalls, coordinate cultural performances, and showcase their society's offerings.

UEA green dome: A greenhouse for students to study, for wellbeing, anxiety release

  • The UEA Green Dome is envisioned as a greenhouse offering students a unique study environment conducive to well-being and anxiety relief.

  • Serving as a safe study space, providing an environmentally rich setting that enhances learning experiences.

Open make-shift bar outside smoker's area for A-LIST and other big events.

  • Introducing a make-shift bar outside the smoker's area for A-LIST and other major events enhances the overall experience for attendees.

  • This setup provides a convenient location for refreshments and socializing, catering to the needs of guests during these special occasions.
