UUEAS is a Registered Charity and has a subsidiary commercial company, Student Union Services (SUS) LTD. SUS provides all the retail, bars and entertainment services on campus and the gigs at the Waterfront, our venue in the city.

Why do we have a Commercial Board?
The commercial board is a development and oversight board for SUS's commercial operations, which include retail, catering, bars, and gigs. Its main purpose is to evaluate how these services are performing and to create plans for their improvement, ensuring that the best possible services are offered to members. Unlike a traditional company board, its meetings are less formal and occur 4 to 6 times a year. The board is made up of a diverse group, including full-time Officers, SU staff, and various student representatives like Student Managers, student staff, and elected student members, all of whom are responsible for listening to member feedback and incorporating it into the board's development work.
What is the Commercial Board?
The main purpose of the commercial board is to provide oversight and development for SUS's commercial services. Their specific job is to assess how services are currently working, develop plans to improve services, and ensure that the best possible services are being provided to members. These boards also provide a unique opportunity for students to get involved and provide feedback. The presence of Student Managers, student staff, and elected students on the board ensures that member feedback and ideas are heard and considered in the development of the commercial operations.
What does the uea(su) Commercial Board look like?
The Deputy Chair of Trustees shall be the Chair of the Commercial Board. The Deputy Chair of the Students’ Union Trustee Board is Olivia Hunt, who has held the position since 2025.
