Whenever possible, we encourage students to speak to advice(su) directly so that we can provide the most timely and accurate information for their circumstances. If a student feels able to complete one of our booking request forms themselves, this is the quickest way for them to access the right support from our team.
However, we know there may be times when UEA staff or other uea(su) departments wish to refer a student to us for additional support.
Please email advicecentre@uea.ac.uk, copying in the student being referred, and include the following information:
- student name
- student number
- the student's preferred email address for contact
- an outline of the student's situation
- an outline of advice or support you have given to the student
- an outline of the support you are seeking on behalf of the student
- any other information relevant to the circumstances
Please copy the student into the email as confirmation that they are aware of, and have consented to, the referral.
We will send an email to the referring member of staff confirming receipt of their referral.
We will contact the student by their preferred email address to:
- ask for more information about their circumstances to inform our advice
- signpost them to the appropriate booking form to arrange an appointment with an advisor
- share relevant resources and information guides
Unless requested by the student, we will not provide further updates to the referring member of staff about the support provided as a result of the referral.
