buddy(su)

Join buddy(su) to make new connections, build confidence, and support others at UEA.

What is buddy(su)?

When first settling into your new life at university, it’s perfectly naturally to find navigating these changes and new environments slightly difficult. Regardless of your backgrounds, interests or comfort zones, our buddy(su) scheme is designed to offer you free support during your transition to life at UEA by matching you with a buddy(su) volunteer.

Our volunteers are all current UEA students who have been studying at UEA for at least one academic year, which means they’ll have had to navigate similar changes or challenges themselves previously. Many of them have even benefitted from the scheme themselves! As a result there’s nobody better suited to being a friendly face to support you and you will be matched either by your school of study or by your hobbies and interests.

They can provide you with a variety of in-person and online support based upon your needs:  From helping you to attend Club and Society sessions to going for coffee with you on campus to check-in with you, our buddy(su) volunteers help you to combat loneliness, find your friends and ultimately to ensure that you feel like you belong at UEA.

Whether you want to know the best place to study on campus, learn a new skill or to meet new people, there’s no one better to help you than a buddy(su) volunteer!
