IMPORTANT: Information about the Renters' Rights Bill is changing rapidly and many of the proposed changes are still in draft form. This page will be updated when we know more. 

What is the Renter's Rights Bill?

The Renters' Rights Bill is a proposed change to law, impacting the way private renting and tenancies work. It is expected to officially become a UK law in 2026, and will be known as the Renter's Rights Act.

The exact date of when this will become law isn't yet known, and some elements of the proposal could take years to be finalised and implemented.
