Plagiarism and Collusion

Understand UEA’s rules on plagiarism and how to deal with academic misconduct concerns.

misconduct

Academic writing can be tough at the best of times, particularly if you don't have much experience of it before coming to UEA. Sometimes this can lead to inadvertently making mistakes with referencing and paraphrasing or unintentionally sharing ideas with your friends when studying together.

This can lead to issues with plagiarism and collusion. If you don't take care with your work, you can fall foul of plagiarism and collusion even if you didn't intend to cheat. This page will explain what plagiarism and collusion means, what you should do if this has become an issue and how we can support you.

It’s especially important to be careful when using AI tools, as universities have strict rules about what can and can’t be used to support your work.
