Wellbeing Champion Training

Wellbeing Champions care about where they live and work and understand the importance of talking about mental health and well-being. This training is for anyone, but especially useful for organisations such as schools, businesses, charitable or community organisations.

Training

The training is 1 to 1½ hours long, and offers basic education about mental health, why people may struggle and signs you may notice when someone is having a hard time. You will also learn how you might approach someone and start a conversation. Finally, you will learn about the NHS Talking Therapies Service and how we can offer support so you can effectively signpost. You will receive a PDF booklet afterwards with all the information covered in the training and a comprehensive FAQ with information about Wellbeing and other services to help you signpost, as well as some resources to use in your workplace, business or other community setting.

Next steps

If you would like to improve your understanding of mental health and create a supportive working environment or community, becoming a Wellbeing Champion may be for you. Please contact socials@wellbeingnandw.co.uk to ask any questions or organise a session of Wellbeing Champion Training if you’d like a bespoke session for your organisation. We also have regular public session available online to attend, which you can book a place on via our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/wellbeing-community-development-team-32911089191

Support available for you

You can contact us at any time with questions about signposting, the Wellbeing Service, further training and anything else related to mental health.

Communication: what to expect before and after the session

Once you’re booked on, please keep in touch with any questions you have, or anything you’d like us to cover in the training that you think is relevant. Also, if you need to cancel or the session isn’t convenient, let us know and we can keep you up to date with future possible dates. We will email a reminder with info to join on the morning of the day of the event.

Feedback from previous sessions:

“It was a good guide of how to support people experiencing emotional difficulties using different strategies and conversation points. The course has also allowed me to find out more about the wellbeing service and different services it has got on offer.”

“I think this worked very well! Often these training courses can be quite intimidating for those who are not "professionals" as such, but they were so relatable as people they instantly put me at ease.”

“This was an amazing online training both in terms of information and presentation. The principles you’ve laid out have strengthened and transformed my understanding of wellbeing and given me a foundation in how I can support people in my communities.”

“As an anxiety sufferer myself joining a zoom session was daunting but I was instantly put at ease and made to feel welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed it and know I can take those skills to my work (and even use them with my family!)”

“It would be very beneficial for the volunteers I manage.”
