Hey there everyone! We'll be holding our discussion session on bell hooks at 3pm on Tuesday 18th October. Make sure to get yourself a free ticket, so we know how big of a room to book. We won't be discussing any particular piece of work, however I'm using this space to recommend some reading, listening, and watching to help inform you about the subject, as well as some questions to think about. Of course you don't have to work through all of these, or even any of these, but I've found them to be great resources for learning about bell hooks and I wanted to share them with you all.

Questions:

How do we decolonise ourselves?

What do we think of hooks’ view that love is the power we need to better understand and utilise, in order to create a better world?

How do we achieve self-actualization within an oppressive society?

Is capitalism linked to patriarchy and racial oppression?

How has hooks’ writings benefitted the world of philosophy?

Are the ideas of bell hooks still relevant today?
