Buxton Heath Conservation Work Party

Saturday 03 December 2022, 9:20am - 4pm

Buxton Heath

Join us for some fun hands on conservation work, followed by a lovely walk around a local nature reserve!

Buxton Heath is a brilliant local nature reserve c.10 miles north of Norwich, and much of the biodiversity found there couldn't without dedicated management by volunteers. For almost 30 years, CAWS have been amongst those volunteers! It's a really fun day out, there's something extremely satisfying about doing some physical work, spending the whole day outdoors and contributing towards the conservation of a lot of rare wildlife.

We will meet at the Security Lodge at UEA (next to the phoneboxes) at 09:20, to travel to the reserve by minibus. We'll be back on campus by 17:00 at the latest. We'll be out all day on a site with no facilities, so you'll need to bring your lunch and drink, and clothes to cope with the unpredictable autumn weather. We'll be working in an area that is quite wet and muddy in places, so bring wellington boots if you have them - but don't worry if not, we have some spare pairs.

If you want to come on either 3 or 10 Dec, please email ueacaws@gmail.com to request a space: there will be 11 places available in the minivan. Also, while all trips are great fun 10 Dec is going ot be a particularly good one, since its the final work party of the year there'll be a big bonfire to remove some of the Birch scrub we've cleared over the past two months, with marshmallows aplenty!
