Horsey Seals Trip!

Saturday 26 November 2022, 10am - 6pm

Does seeing hundreds of seal pups at point-blank range sound like fun? Then join us for our annual trip to see the colony at Horsey Mere!

We will be taking a coach from UEA at 10am, and spending about three and a half hours watching the wonderful seals, and any other wildlife in the area (the area can also be good for Pink-footed Goose, Snow Bunting, Crane and many other bird species in the winter). At Horsey you stand on the top of a sand dune, looking down on a colony of Grey Seals about 20-30 metres away: they give fantastic views but because their beach is roped off they are undisturbed, so its an amazing opportunity to see these magnificent animals up close and in a way that is safe for them. We also time the trip for what we hope will be the peak of their pupping season, allowing us the opportunity to see some wonderful seal pups!

After a few hours here, the coach will take us to the Lacon Arms in Hemsby for a delicious and well-deserved meal: it'll be a roast-style carvery but with vegan and gluten-free options. Tickets are £13, which covers coach hire and your meal! The coach will pick us up at about 5, so we'll make it back to campus for about 6pm.
