*Fully Booked* Making your own Japanese Fox Mask

Tuesday 19 February 2019, 3pm - 4pm

TEC 0.05

Join us in this workshop and learn about the art of painting masks in Japan. You will also have the opportunity to design and paint your own fox mask!

Foxes - or kitsune in Japanese - were seen in traditional Japanese folklore of possessing supernatural powers. According to some stories, foxes could shapeshift to trick humans, while others showed them as loyal and faithful friends. This significance is told across the stage in the noh style of theatre, where actors don the mask of a kitsune to portray these creatures.

In this workshop, you'll have the chance to design and create your own fox mask, which you can then keep! How you design the mask is up yo you, and all materials and guidance will be provided on arrival.

This event has a capacity of 20 people. Please book your space by clicking above.

What is Do Something Different?

The Do Something Different Programme is about trying a new activity and sparking your interests! We aim to encourage greater student interaction from across schools, liberations and courses that build your knowledge and skills as individuals. Perhaps you've been looking to try a new sport, attending a live music performance, or dabbling in an academic subject that piques your interest? We collate a wide variety of different activities happening across campus - from sports and games, to trips and extracurricular lectures!

There's always something happening every single day, and most events are absolutely free or cost very little! The best events will return during the Do Something Different Festival in Semester Two - a week-long celebration in which teaching is suspended for you to try a huge range of activities! Stay tuned for the full Festival programme coming soon!
