New Writing Live returns to campus!
Join us at Dorothy’s Bar for an evening of live readings featuring UEA staff, alumni, and students, headlined by Dr Jasmin Kirkbride, LDC Creative Writing lecturer!
Dr Kirkbride’s debut novel, The Forest on the Edge of Time, will be released in the UK in March 2026 by Tor, with a second standalone to follow in 2027. Her short speculative fiction has appeared in places including Reactor, Fictive Dream, and Open Pen, and her story ‘Sand’ was featured in Some of the Best from Tor.com 2021. Her eco-poetry has appeared in places including Frogpond and Presence, and she was the 2022 Researcher-in-Residence for the British Haiku Society, investigating haiku in the climate crisis.
We’re also inviting UEA Creative Writing undergraduate and postgraduate students to read their own work. Submissions can include micro-fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, short stories, or extracts from plays or novels. If it can be read for around five minutes, it’s welcome. Unfortunately, due to the tech setup on the night, we’re unable to accommodate music.
