Currently laboratories rarely work for disabled people, but universal design and appropriate accommodations can solve this problem. Diverse teams have been shown repeatedly to find better, faster, and more relevant solutions. This talk discusses how to make labs accessible for all and how this could make science more impactful. Dr Katherine Deane (HSC) has multiple disabilities have informed her research and advice on disability access. She has improved the access of multiple universities (including UEA), theatres, castles, planetarium, rail carriages, and roadwork ramps. She repeatedly proves that by removing the barriers to accessing life, people can express their brilliance.
