Panel discussion with experts on systemic issues, mental health, young people, over policing and activism- Habib Kadiri is executive director of StopWatch, an organisation that brings together academics, activists, marginalised youth, and legal experts seeking to challenge police use of stop and search powers by drawing attention to the realities for those on the receiving end of them. Mad Youth Organise is a youth-led campaign, made up of mad, neurodivergent and disabled young people with lived experience of mental illness and psychiatric systems. We organise against the root causes of our distress—calling out how poverty, racism, ableism, and corporate greed drive the mental health crisis among young people. Rosie is an organiser at MYO, her own experience of mental illness and the psychiatric system underpins her desire to reshape society’s attitudes to madness and challenge the oppressive systems fuelling the youth mental health crisis. Jaz Brook, DEV student, SU Environment Officer and National Union of Students Rep at UEA is a climate and social justice specialist. Working across education, industry and policy and working with young people, business leaders, academics and policymakers- Jaz is the Founder and CEO of Youth Climate Solutions. YCS is a social enterprise that creates interdisciplinary, intersectional and systemic solutions that address climate and social justice, supporting a safe and just transition for all.
