Your LGBT+ officer that understands you!
As a proud trans man and a dedicated member of the University of East Anglia community, I am running for the position of LGBT+ Officer to represent and advocate for the interests of LGBT+ students. My vision is to create a university environment where every LGBT+ student feels safe, supported, and able to succeed academically, socially, and personally. My name is Ololade Olokun and I’d be honoured to represent the interests of LGBT+ students here at UEA.
If elected I will:
- Commit myself to amplifying the voices of LGBT+ students by actively engaging with the student body to understand our concerns and priorities.
- Collaborate with the university to implement policies that promote inclusivity, such as more gender-neutral facilities and improved support services for trans and non-binary students.
- Organise events and workshops to celebrate LGBT+ identities, raise awareness, and foster a sense of community.
- Work with external organisations to bring resources and opportunities to LGBT+ students, including mental health support and career guidance.
- Ensure that the university's curriculum and practices reflect diversity and inclusivity, advocating for representation in all areas.
I am committed to being a strong and approachable advocate for all LGBT+ students, ensuring that our voices are heard and our needs are met. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive university experience for everyone. Thank you for considering me for this position. I look forward to the opportunity to serve and make a positive impact on our community.
