Quality communication for all HUM cohorts

Hi everyone! I’m Georgia, a third-year history student passionate about lobbying for change to create the best possible academic experience for HUM students.

Having studied in the HUM Faculty as a fresher, a second year and now as a final year student, I have seen first-hand the areas of courses, and indeed the wider school, that I feel need re-evaluating. My main aim, if elected, is to improve the standard of communication between staff and students within the school. I plan to focus on removing issues relating to:

- the gradual closure of the Arts building

- the integration of increased joint-honours students

- third year Special Subject module selections

I'm committed to work towards closing the gap between students and staff, creating an approachable environment that effectively deals with queries and concerns. This extends to those students on joint courses, guaranteeing they are as included, and as welcome, as single honours students. I will campaign to ensure information is conveyed sensitively and with prior thought to students’ welfare and experience, particularly looking at the timeline in which significant and consequential decisions are made.

As this years’ Invisible Disabilities Officer I am committed to making the HUM Faculty, and its respective courses, accessible for all students. I would love the opportunity to work with you to push for adaptations to the areas of teaching and assessment that are currently felt to be missing.

I hope to bring positive changes across the HUM Faculty throughout all three student cohorts.

Thank you
