A note to the candidates

Congratulations for nominating yourself to run in the UEA SU elections! You’re officially a candidate!

We know that putting yourself forward for a role might seem daunting at first, but you’re about to have an incredible experience. Campaigning will teach you a whole myriad of new skills – from communications to branding and public speaking, and you’ll learn loads about how you can make impactful change for students at UEA.

Now that you’ve submitted your nomination, it’s time to start planning your campaign! The good news is that you don’t need any prior experience or knowledge to run a campaign, and there are plenty of training opportunities and resources available for you to utilize.

That’s why we have created this handy Candidate Hub. Everything you need to know, including the elections timeline and rules and regulations can be found here. On these pages, you’ll find the answers to almost any question you might have, along with plenty of helpful resources and tools to equip you to run an incredible campaign. We highly recommend spending some time looking through the Hub and signing up for a workshop or two!

Remember that the UEA SU staff team are also here to support you through the election, so you’re not on your own. They have seen plenty of SU elections from years gone by and understand the challenges of being a candidate. So don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

There will be a mandatory Candidate Briefing for all election candidates on Monday 20th February at 5pm. This is where you will find out the full list of nominations and find out who you are running against. Please put this date in your diaries now!

We’re wishing you the best of luck with your election campaign. Campaigning can be a lot of fun regardless of the outcome – remember to be creative, ask for help when you need it, try and enjoy the whole experience!
