The Nigerian Society is an emerging society at UEA. It serves a dual purpose of giving both Nigerian international students and students of Nigerian descent from the UK an experience reminsicent of life at home, and also educating students of other nationalites about the Nigerian culture. We do this primarily through our frequent events and social media activity.

Greatest Nigerian students !!!!!!!

From the office of the President on behalf of the NSS:

We are deeply passionate about building a supportive, inclusive, and vibrant community where every Nigerian student feels seen, heard, and empowered.

🔹 Our Vision is;
To unite and uplift the Nigerian student community at UEA by promoting welfare, representation, cultural pride, and academic/career growth.

🔹Our Goal is to create a society where we thrive TOGETHER — academically, socially, and personally.

To achieve the above we will do the following;
Strengthen Community Bonds by;
- Organizing regular meet-and-greet sessions, welcome events, and peer support hangouts.
- Encouraging mentorship between new and returning students.

Welfare and Student Support
- Actively advocate for students' needs (accommodation, mental health, financial support).
- Establish a mobile support initiative by providing bicycles to members of our community who can use them for commuting to work and school, thereby easing the burden of transportation.
Additionally, organizing bicycle riding training sessions to equip others with the skills needed to benefit from this initiative.
- a proactive welfare team to check in regularly on members’ well-being.

Cultural and Social Events
- Celebrate Nigeria through events like Independence Day, Jollof Wars, Cultural Night, and more.
- Foster unity by collaborating with other African and international student groups.

Academic and Career Empowerment
- Host skill-building workshops, LinkedIn/CV sessions, and career panels with successful Nigerian professionals in the UK.
- Partner with UEA career services and alumni networks.

Visibility and Representation
- Ensure NSS has a strong voice in UEA’s student governance spaces.
- Create an active social media presence to inform and engage members.
