Hi! I’m Olivia Hunt (she/her), running for re-election as your Activities and Opportunities Officer.

Who am I?

A passionate and proactive leader with a proven track record:

  • Activities & Opportunities Officer 24-25
  • Dance and Gymnastics Sports Executive 23-24
  • Cheerleading Stunt President 22-24
  • Business Society Publicity Officer 23-24
  • Business Course Rep 2021-24
  • Awarded Outstanding Contribution to Sport, Club Colour, Shortlisted for Volunteer of the Year 2023-25
  • Entrepreneurial business background

8 Months as A&O Officer

I’ve loved this role and worked hard to deliver change. I tackled sports costs, revamped committee training, and overhauled code of conduct. I launched the Society's WhatsApp Community, promoted sustainability with the Fancy Dress Swap, and fostered collaboration in presidents' meetings. I worked with Student Services on mental health resources, co-created a club sponsorship document with a sports exec, and pushed to feature student groups on campus TV screens. From organizing events like the Pop-Up Market and Quiz & Society Night to representing you on university committees, I’ve focused on expanding opportunities and strengthening key stakeholder relationships.

See what I've done

Excited to continue progress, complete projects, and enhance student life with new initiatives!

Key Focus Areas for 2025/26

  1. Financial barriers shouldn’t prevent participation: I’ll advocate for a hardship fund to support students with costs for joining clubs, societies, removing financial barriers to participation.
  2. Revise and Modernise FTO & PTO Roles: I propose splitting the A&O role into Sports Officer and Societies/Activities Officer. Building on recent role changes, I’ll review our structure and launch a student consultation to redefine it.
  3. Improve the Day-to-Day Operations for Clubs: I’ll work with UEA Sport to address issues with allocations, transport, and cancellations, ensuring clearer transparency in grants and scholarships to enhance committee and member experiences.
  4. Challenge Week: Inspired by York’s successful model and recognising the funding challenges faced by student groups, I propose Challenge Week at UEA. This will see clubs/societies take on exciting challenges, to raise money for their group!
  5. Revamp Society Training: I’ve revamped Society Training into a five-phase program based on feedback from presidents, and I’m committed to delivering this for better committee support.
  6. Club/Society Hive Takeovers: Inspired by successful Hive events, I propose weekly club/society takeovers to host interactive activities, raising awareness and attracting new members.
  7. Keep the Night Bus: Nathan and Luke have done a great job with the Night Bus, ensuring accessibility and safety. I’m committed to continuing and maintaining its success.
  8. UEA Got Talent: Host the event at the LCR to give students a platform to showcase their talents.
  9. Fix Room Bookings: Work with the university to resolve room booking issues affecting clubs and societies.
  10. An SU That Comes to You: The best ideas come from you. I’ll listen, adapt and ensure your voice is heard, making the SU responsive and focused on delivering what you want.

I’m always on the HUNT to improve student life and would love to continue this work into 2026!
