Atlas&i emerged from the UK alternative rock scene in 2010, releasing their debut album 'In Desolate Times' on famed independent record label, Small Town Records. Garnering rave reviews from the likes of Rocksound and Kerrang! for their breathtaking energetic live shows, Atlas&i soared to the forefront of the UK rock scene.

After an intense run, the band stepped away and quietly disappeared into the ether, just as their upward trajectory was about to establish them amongst the biggest names in the genre.

Fast forward to 2025 and Atlas&i return from their long hiatus with new album 'Between Collapse & the Quiet Beyond'. The long overdue come back picks up exactly where the band left off over ten years ago. Refined, re-energized and with a new perspective towards the music industry, 'Between Collapse & the Quiet Beyond' expands on the bands signature sound with deeper atmospheres and renewed urgency, proving that time away didn't dull the edge; it sharpened it.

Atlas&i is, and always has been, about finding light in the wreckage - loudly, honestly, and without apology.

Originally released in 1996, 1977 is the #1 platinum-selling debut album that launched Ash from teenage upstarts to Britpop-era icons. Also announced today is a very special live streamed concert from the band, direct from Belfast's Oh Yeah Centre. Taking place on 6th May 2026 (30 years to the day since 1977's original release) at 8pm BST, the event is a must for fans old and new. Ash will play an intimate live acoustic set of those classic tracks from the album and the evening will be hosted by BBC Introducing’s Taylor Johnson, who will be chatting to the band and delving into the stories and inspirations behind the music that defined a generation. Whether you’re eager to relive the nostalgia of your 90’s teenage years or are discovering Ash for the first time, this is a unique opportunity not to be missed.

The digital and 2CD edition features on Disc 1 the original album in full - 12 tracks of high-voltage power-pop that still sound as urgent and melodic as ever, such as ‘Lose Control’ and ‘Darkside Lightside’. It also includes four additional tracks: the long-lost, near-mythical track ‘Bittersweet Blue’, ‘Oh Yeah (2026 version), ‘Girl From Mars (Demo 2026 Mix) and ‘Gone The Dream (Acoustic 2026 Mix)’.

Disc 2 captures a special live set from STABAL Studios in 2021, where the band perform 1977 in full, along with fan favourites from the era, including 'Oh Yeah’ released as the first track from the performance, plus 'Coasting', 'Sneaker', 'American Devil', and 'Silver Surfer'.

The 2LP presents the original album across LP1 with a specially curated collection of B-sides on LP2, that highlight the depth and creativity of the 1977 era. The View are a Scottish indie rock band that formed in Dundee in 2005. They incorporate various styles such as punk, pop, alternative rock, and folk in their music. They are best known for their 2007 single "Same Jeans" which reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart.

The band have released five studio albums since their platinum selling debut Hats Off to the Buskers, which topped the UK Albums Chart in January 2007 and was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize.

Despite never matching this early success, they enjoy a large fanbase in their native Scotland with albums regularly topping the Scottish Albums Chart. The band also hold a reputation for their live performances with regularly sold-out tours in Scotland. The View are also regular fixtures at music festivals throughout the UK; they played at Scotland's largest festival—T in the Park—a record eight times, with organiser Geoff Ellis saying, "The View can play every year under my watch, if they want to."

Over the past decade, few artists have embodied the unbridled freedom of punk like Skating Polly. Formed when stepsisters Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse were just nine and 13,the Oklahoma-bred band have channelled their chameleonic musicality into a sound theycall“ugly-pop,”unruly and subversive and wildly melodic. With Kelli’s brother Kurtis Mayo joining on drums in 2017, they’ve also built a close-knit community of fans while earning the admiration of their musical forebears, a feat that’s found them collaborating with icons like X’s Exene Cervenka and Beat Happening’s Calvin Johnson, touring with Babes In Toyland, and starring as the subject of a feature-length documentary. On their double album Chaos County Line, Skating Polly reach a whole new level of self-possession, ultimately sharing their most expansive and emotionally powerful work to date.

The follow-up to 2018’s The Make It All Show, Chaos County Line finds Skating Polly working again with Brad Wood, the acclaimed producer behind indie-rock classics like Liz Phair’s Exile in Guyville. Synth-pop pioneers Heaven 17 have announced an exciting new headline tour for October 2026 across the UK including dates in hometown Sheffield’s Octagon and London’s iconic O2 Shepherds Bush Empire. The group’s Martyn Ware and vocalist Glenn Gregory will be performing tracks from their debut studio album Penthouse and Pavement which celebrates its 45th anniversary.

Penthouse and Pavement was released in September 1982, was certified Gold the following year and climbed to No.14 on the UK Albums Chart. It has since become widely regarded as a trailblazing essential work in the early synth movement, earning a place in ‘1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die’. Fusing cutting-edge electronics with political lyricism and hard-hitting funk, this album was a defining moment of the era and genre.

The brainchild of Kevin Starrs, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats have been making extraordinary music since 2009. Always too bold and idiosyncratic to be easily pigeonholed, they emerged from an obscure corner of the labyrinthine British underground as purveyors of a new and overwhelmingly psychedelic take on the gritty rudiments of hard rock and downer blues. Steeped in both the wayward melodies, vocal harmonies and mischievous arrangements of psychedelic pop and the dissonant thunder and macabre imagery of proto-metal, Starrs’ greatest feat has been to create an entirely fresh sonic world from these most familiar ingredients. Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats remain resolutely individualist. Masterfully echoing the magical atmospheres of heavy music’s turbulent past while sounding entirely unlike anything else available to human ears. Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats continues to be the deadliest show in town.

SUPPORT: The Wytches Sometimes, you have to go backwards to go forwards. That’s precisely what The Wytches have done on Talking Machine, the Brighton band’s fifth full-length. In more ways than one, too. For a start, the title of the record was inspired by a book about Thomas Edison, whose nickname for gramophones was ‘talking machine’. Then there’s the music itself. While The Wytches – now consisting of Kristian Bell (lead vocals/guitar), Daniel Rumsey (bass), Mark Breed (keyboards/guitar) and Bhav Thaker (drums) – have had a rather anachronistic aspect to them since forming in Peterborough in 2011, there was a very intentional push to summon influences from the past for this album’s 11 songs.

Tropic Gold is a UK-based band blending alternative, metal, pop, and electronica. Banks Arcade – Down-tuned heavy guitars meet angelic pop melodies and aggressive hip-hop breaks. Northern lads The Lilacs are a high-energy indie band from Wigan. In just a few years, the band has made a real name for themselves up and down the country, having played sets at iconic venues such as Manchester’s Albert Hall, various O2 Academy venues, and even found themselves on the bill at the mighty Isle of Wight Festival. The lads have accumulated over half a million streams worldwide, catching the ‘ear’ of various well-known radio stations such as XS Manchester. Their debut single Vicarage Road has found its way onto thousands of playlists and has become one of the band’s most recognised tunes with upwards of 1.5 million streams on Spotify alone.

Having formed a strong friendship in a previous band, Ollie Anglesea (Singer) and Sam Birchall (lead Guitar) quickly developed the appetite to create a legacy of their own. After tireless months of long rehearsals and endless train fares, the band became complete when additions Dave Gomersall (Drums) and Matt Johnson (Bass Guitar) were made in October of 2018. With the line-up complete and tunes up their sleeves, the next thing on the agenda was to name the band. It was clear from the off this wasn’t going to be easy, with numerous suggestions being cast aside. Unfortunately earlier that year, Sam lost his mum in a battle with secondary breast cancer. Having numerous visits for treatment at The Lilac Centre (a specialist cancer clinic), the lads felt this was a suggestion that couldn’t be overseen.

The legendary British band Madness will bring their inimitable mix of ska, pop and pure joy to Earlham Park, Norwich on Sunday 23 August 2026.

This announcement follows the news that The Streets will open this year’s Rock N Roll Circus Norwich on Friday 21st August, with that date nearing a complete and total sell out. The eagerly anticipated line-up for Saturday 20th August is soon to be announced. Madness will be topping a stellar line-up that also features Ocean Colour Scene, The Wailers, The Selecter and David Rodigan, with more names still to be announced.

The show forms part of the second ever Rock N Roll Circus Norwich weekend, following the event’s triumphant debut in 2025 and its eagerly awaited return in 2026. Rock N Roll Circus has revealed the next major announcement for its return to Earlham Park, Norwich from Friday 21 - Sunday 23 August 2026, confirming a huge bill for Saturday 22nd August.

In a one-off celebration of three generation-defining records, The Kooks, The Vaccines and The Fratellis will each perform one of their seminal albums under the Big Top.

Brighton favourites The Kooks will headline the Saturday night, performing their platinum-selling debut album Inside In / Inside Out. The album catapulted the band into fame, selling more than 2 million copies and helping define an era of music. Two decades since their debut, The Kooks are resonating with a whole new generation. With sold-out tours and epic returns to festival main stages, the band has firmly cemented their place in the hearts of Gen Z fans. The album includes enduring anthems She Moves in Her Own Way, Ooh La and Naïve, and remains a staple part of indie culture more than 15 years after its release.

Joining them are London heroes The Vaccines, who will perform their explosive debut What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? in its entirety. Released in 2011 and containing breakout hits If You Wanna, Post Break-Up Sex and Nørgaard, the album became one of the fastest-selling debuts of the decade and helped define a new wave of British indie energy.

Completing the trio are Scottish icons The Fratellis, performing their beloved debut Costello Music from start to finish. The album launched the band onto the global stage with hits including Chelsea Dagger, Henrietta and Whistle For The Choir, earning the group a BRIT Award and setting the tone for one of the most recognisable sounds of the era.

The Saturday line-up marks another major moment for Rock N Roll Circus’ return to Norwich in 2026, following last year’s hugely successful debut which saw thousands head to Earlham Park for headline performances from McFly, Courteeners and Olly Murs, alongside acrobats, fire shows, circus performers and an immersive festival atmosphere that captivated the city.

Rock N Roll Circus Norwich is expanding in spectacular fashion for 2026, with organisers confirming the festival will now open a day earlier - transforming the August event into a full four-day celebration at Earlham Park from 20 to 23 August.

The newly added Thursday opening night on 20 August will be headlined by Manchester legends James, joined by indie favourites Razorlight and chart-topping Merseyside four-piece The K’s. Headlining the new date, James remains one of the UK’s most enduring and beloved live bands. With a career spanning more than four decades, their catalogue includes era-defining anthems such as Sit Down, Laid, She’s A Star and Come Home. This coming September sees the start of ‘The Wheels In Motion Tour’, a three-band bill that will support indie venues up and down the country, showcasing some of the UKs most thrilling indie rock talent with The Jacques, The Sukis and Pistol Daisys.

Curated by indie live agency Motion Talent, all three bands are part of the emerging artists on their roster, and the tour aims to boost grassroots touring through indie venues with a fan friendly low-ticket price. First up, London via Bristol trio The Jacques have been carving their way up and down the country and the EU with post punk legends Public Image Limited in recent times, and since first forming as young teenagers, they’ve supported The Libertines at Hyde Park and played Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds. Their story has been fraught with as many ups as downs, but The Jacques have proved themselves to be true road warriors and survivors. Their genre-smashing fusion of mutant punk, psychedelic grunge and joyous indie rock never fails to hit the spot.

“Being on the road is the best,” state the band. “We spent most of last year on tour in endless scrapes and adventures and it was while bouncing around the back of the van on a cold night up north that we thought of getting our label mates to come and join us on a tour like the old school ones. It’s going to be a blast!”

Also joining the tour are Liverpool’s The Sukis, who are fast making a name for themselves as one of the most exciting alternative rock bands on the scene today. Punky, intelligent and an explosive live act, their songs dive deep into the psyche of what it is to be young.

Lastly, Pistol Daisys are storming the alt-pop scene with a fierce energy that's quickly earned them a devoted following, blending Glasgow’s vibrant grit with heartfelt authenticity to create music that captivates fans across Scotland all the way to Europe.

London newcomers Vieira and The Silvers take their classic rock and proto-punk heroes by the hand and tastefully subvert expectations. Nostalgic sensibilities, contrasted by flashes of dynamic art-rock, indie, soul and disco, set the sextet apart from mere revivalism, and establish them as a compelling modern rock band.

Songs which are often tangled up in an existential angst or a rat-race disillusionment, when coupled by frontman Diogo Vieira da Silva’s characterfully zany performance, make for an act as theatrical as it is thought provoking. Two guitars handled by Ben Curling and Ethan Faith respectively, enable the band to chop and swap rhythm and lead lines, properly paying homage to their classic rock forefathers. The tenor saxophone played by Cormac Coyle, wailing exuberantly through the louder moments, and then adding rich, melodic colour in softer breaks, serves as a distinguishing feature of the sextet’s sound. The rhythm section — Reece Dean on bass and Lennon Donaldson on drums — anchor the band’s dynamics with precision and flair, enabling seamless exchanges between swaggering blues-rock, unexpected detours, and passages of mellow groove-laden soul.

Vieira and The Silvers began in Norwich, UK in 2022, where Diogo Vieira da Silva first earned attention for a one-man incarnation of the band, quickly becoming a local favourite through a string of energetic live shows. The band notably headlined and sold out several hometown venues multiple times, including Norwich Arts Centre and Voodoo Daddy’s Showroom, before Vieira da Silva relocated to London in 2024, where the acquisition of new members evolved the project from a solo vision into a collaborative, fully fledged band. Since 2024, the current lineup continues to push the sound into bolder, more sculpted territory, and Vieira and The Silvers have supported artists such as New Candys, Magic Shoppe, and Full Flower Moon Band on sold-out bills across the UK, appearing at festivals including Left of the Dial (Rotterdam) and Red Rooster Festival (UK), and headlined multiple London venues such as The Old Blue Last, Paper Dress Vintage, and The Strongroom — all to capacity crowds.

The London sextet now prepare to unveil their debut five-track EP ‘Well Fed, Fully Clothed, and Completely Sane’, recorded with producer Sean Read (Iggy Pop, Mark Lanegan, Gabriels) at Famous Times Studio in Hackney. The debut EP, scheduled for release in February of 2026, serves as a first proper glimpse into Vieira and The Silvers’ ambitious creative world — venturesome, full of energy, and characteristically theatrical.

The Divine Comedy is the alias of Neil Hannon, a Northern Irish pop singer/songwriter with aspirations of becoming a chamber pop fusion of Scott Walker, Morrissey, and Electric Light Orchestra.

During the early '90s, he built up a strong cult following with a pair of idiosyncratic, critically acclaimed records before his third album, Casanova, became a mainstream success in the wake of Brit-pop's popularity. Subsequent outings like Absent Friends (2004), Bang Goes the Knighthood (2010), and Office Politics (2019) continued to toe the line between majestic orchestral pop and clever, irony-ridden indie rock.

In addition to his work with Divine Comedy, Hannon has composed the themes for the popular British TV shows Father Ted and The IT Crowd, and has collaborated with Pugwahs's Thomas Walsh under the moniker the Duckworth Lewis Method.

Anybody familiar with the teeth-gnashing, blood-dripping punk snarl of Kid Kapichi knows about their ‘Fearless Nature’, so it should, at first glance, come as no surprise that the Hastings band’s fourth album should take that title.

The group that lacerated the anxious political zeitgeist with the partygate-bait of ‘Party At No. 10’ or challenged Kafkaesque Brexit disillusionment with ‘Can EU Hear Me’ have from day one stood out in their fearlessness when it comes to sticking their heads above the parapet.

Lean in closer to ‘Fearless Nature’, though, and something is different. On lead single ‘Stainless Steel’, when that album title first crosses the lips of frontman Jack Wilson, it is not in the form of a statement of defiance but in a moment of doubt.

“Are you scared of your fearless nature?” he sings, and it is clear the question is pointed at himself. “I’m not made of stainless steel,” goes the chorus. “I’m made of blood, I’m made of bone”.

Wilson describes ‘Stainless Steel’ as the bridge from the old Kid Kapichi to the new, and in its lethal, taut, muscular efficiency it certainly bears the hallmarks of the band’s classic sound, but the maturity of its point of view and the courage in its vulnerability is something new.

The songs that make up the album were written during the summer of 2024, a period of deep change in Wilson life. “I was in a pretty awful place where I just didn’t know who I was, what I was doing,” he explains. “I felt extremely depressed, which I’d never experienced before in my life.”

The end of a stable relationship had become the catalyst for a swirl of mental health challenges for Wilson, and one consequence was that where his writing had once been fuelled by anger, it was now being controlled by fear.

“The other albums were observations, written about other people,” he says. “This one resounds with me and who I was at the time. It is introspective, I had just had my mind blown open to how vulnerable I was.”
You hear it throughout ‘Fearless Nature’, an album riven with moments of self-doubt made by a band that has grown bold enough to show the bullet holes in their armour after years on the frontline.

“Too hot, too cold, reputation to uphold, too weak, too bold, there’s a reputation to live up to,” Wilson sings at the outset of ‘Intervention’, amid a squall of guitar feedback that masquerades as the grey fuzz of a mind overheating with confusion and insecurity.

The making of the record proved to be therapeutic for Wilson and the risks he took in opening up have paid off. “I feel great now. When I listen to this album, it’s the most proud I’ve ever been of anything I’ve ever done, because listening back to it, it’s like, I was in a place I’d never been before and wasn’t really equipped to deal with. Now, I’ve got control of the situation.”

‘Fearless Nature’ is also a bridge to a new Kid Kapichi in a more literal sense. In May 2025, guitarist Ben Beetham and drummer George Macdonald announced they were leaving the band, a decision they had made internally some six months earlier. The choice was made amicably, and ‘Fearless Nature’ stands at the intersection of the two generations; the songs were written, recorded and produced with the old line-up (co-produced by Beetham alongside Mike Horner), but are now set to be taken on the road with the new makeup of the band.

Guitarist Lee Martin and drummer Miles Gill are both longtime friends of Wilson and bassist Eddie Lewis and veterans of countless hard-playing bands on the live circuit in the South of England. “They are insanely talented,” Wilson says. “There’s a whole new vibrancy, especially at live shows where we’re all bouncing off the walls because it feels like our first ever gig again.”

Make no mistake, the band that self-produced their incendiary debut album ‘This Time Next Year’ during the pandemic is alive and well in the fabric of ‘Fearless Nature’ too, though. You don’t need a political diploma to identify Wilson’s targets on ‘Leader Of The Free World’, for example, when he sings, “Is it the money or the people / Is it the church or the steeple / It turns out the first one was better than the sequel”.
On the haunting, liminal ‘Dark Days Are Coming’, we hear the two themes coalesce, with Wilson singing of being trapped inside his mind with a “voice that’s been designed to keep me up at night”, before turning the spotlight outwards at the legacy of austerity-era Britain: “And I find that it’s dangerous to trust in the hand that cradles us, in the eyes that label us the grit that won’t come loose.”

Kid Kapichi belong to a generation of punk-coded artists that have spearheaded a renewed political activism in grassroots music culture in Britain in recent years, a movement that has come under fire in 2025 due to what Wilson describes as the “absolute madness” of the dismissed terror trial of Kneecap’s Mo Chara in London and the tabloid paranoia stoked after Bob Vylan’s provocative Glastonbury set.
“The fact that they’re trying so hard to shut down independent artists is a sign of the times and it is showing that it is working,” Wilson says. “They’re doing this because they know that people are listening and they are waking up. What we’re doing and what other bands are doing is working.”

The band’s political message may be undimmed, but with ‘Fearless Nature’ expanding their repertoire, it now has company. Their decision to allow an emotional complexity into their lyrical perspective is a major step forward, and the benefits are there for all to draw strength from.

“When I listen to this album, I’m like, this makes so much fucking sense,” says Wilson. “It’s comforting to know how much things can change in a short space of time. The message of the album is that it does get better and you do get through it.”

Every band has global ambition, but few lack the desire to move 7000 miles across the world to realise it. Summer 2022 saw Elephant Kind move from Indonesia to London to explore the next chapter as a band, starting a new era on the other side of the globe. "This is the dream of every Indonesian artist, probably most artists in the world, like everyone that we love moved to London at some point and writing here, it means a lot to us." says Bam Mastro, frontman and founder of the group.

Elephant Kind was formed in Mastro's bedroom in Perth, Australia over a decade ago, acting as an outlet to express himself creatively, a purely introspective project that was more for himself than anyone else before moving to Indonesia. Now in 2022, the band is a three piece with four projects to their name, hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners across the globe and a firmly cemented place as one of Indonesia's most beloved alternative outfits. Their fresh take on alternative indie has earned them critical recognition and acclaim both at home and globally, constantly building year on year as their worldwide ambition comes into fruition.

In Indonesia, the band have won big at awards ceremonies including The Indonesian Cutting Edge Music Awards and amassed a wealth of nominations at The AMI’s and The Indonesia’s Choice Awards. Their success at home also saw some of the most culturally impactful brands approach the band for collaborations, working with the likes of Gucci, Dior, Vans and Dr. Martens to name a few.

Kevin Septanto and Bayu Adisapoetra make up a trio with Mastro, working together to create the genre-straddling Elephant Kind sound, bringing together a multitude of inspirations and styles to craft something remarkably unique. With this new dynamic comes a new writing
style, with a full band involvement rather than simply a solo entity. The band's forthcoming project is undoubtedly the start of a new era, taking on board a fresh creative process to create arguably their most forward thinking work to date.

"This is the first record where I let go of a lot of my ego, I suppose" says Mastro, "And I just kind of let everyone join with ideas this time. That was difficult at first as it's hard listening to other people, but Bayu and Kevin came in with new, exciting things, and it was refreshing just knowing that you're not as powerful as you think you are on your own".

Although Indonesia is rife with talent, few bands 'make it' internationally, a fact which makes this moment in time so exciting for Elephant Kind. "When we were younger we never saw an Indonesian band have international success, so the dream has always been there for us to break that mould" says Bayu Adisapoetra.

"I think the best part of being successful in Indonesia is that by nature, you're able to sustain a career longer than everywhere else in the world. If you make it there, they're gonna love you for a very long time."

When it comes to live, the next year will see Elephant Kind introduced to a totally new audience, with a whole new country of fans to engage with. As one of the country’s definitive alternative outfits they’re also a go-to support for huge international talent, touring with the likes of The XX and Franz Ferdinand. This huge presence in Southeast Asia is now starting to translate even more globally with the band’s move to the UK, something that ignites a fire in Elephant Kind and what will make the next 12 months so exciting.

The Wonder Stuff have announced an extensive UK tour for October 2026, celebrating the alt-rock band’s 40th anniversary.

The 16-date tour will begin in Newcastle on 1st October, and will include further dates Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Brighton, Bournemouth, Margate, Glasgow, Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester, Scarborough, Norwich, Lincoln, Wolverhampton and Liverpool, before ending the year with a date at London’s Brixton Academy on 8th December.

Formed in Birmingham/Black Country area in 1986, The Wonder Stuff signed to Polydor Records in 1987 and released four Top 20 albums between 1988 and 1994 – ‘The Eight Legged Groove Machine’ in 1988 (#19), ‘HUP’ in 1989 (#5), ‘Never Loved Elvis’ in 1991 (#3) and ‘Construction For The Modern Idiot’ in 1993 (#4).

In addition, the band enjoyed thirteen Top 40 singles, including collaborations with Kirsty MacColl on ‘Welcome To The Cheap Seats’ and the Number One single with comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, ‘Dizzy’.

During this time The Wonder Stuff regularly appeared on the front covers of the British music press and made six separate appearances on the BBC’s flagship music TV program ‘Top Of The Pops’. In addition, the band sold-out four nights in a row at London’s Brixton Academy and headlined numerous festivals, including the Reading Festival in 1992.

DON BROCO are a band that constantly defy categorization. Since forming in 2008, the English act—vocalist Rob Damiani, guitarist Simon Delaney, bassist Tom Doyle and drummer/vocalist Matt Donnelly—have been creating innovative music that effortlessly merges elements of metal, post-hardcore, and electronica, into a unique amalgam of music all their own. “I love being surprised and I love music taking turns that you wouldn’t expect,” Damiani explains. “When you’re writing a song you have a million options and it’s always the paths that lead somewhere unexpected that get me the most excited.” While this flair for experimentation has always been a hallmark of DON BROCO’s sound, the band’s Fearless Records debut Nightmare Tripping sees the quartet creating the heaviest and most nuanced album of their career. It also illustrates why the band have sold out venues like Wembley Arena and Alexandra Palace in the UK; performed to frenzied crowds at Download and Reading & Leeds Festival; headlined Slam Dunk Festival; and toured alongside Pierce The Veil, Bring Me The Horizon and 30 Seconds To Mars.

To record Nightmare Tripping the band once again reunited with longtime producer/collaborator Dan Lacaster, who has gone on to work with everyone from Bring Me The Horizon and Muse since getting his start working on DON BROCO’s debut full-length Priorities in 2012. “It’s been so awesome to see Dan’s growth as a producer and musician in his own right,” says Damiani. “He’s also one of the best singers I’ve ever heard in my life which is great because it really pushes me and Matt to up our game in order to live up to that.” While the band’s last album, 2021’s Amazing Things has been streamed 57 million times, the band didn’t try to replicate that album this time around. Correspondingly, one of the most dramatic sonic shifts on Nightmare Tripping is the way that Damiani is able to further integrate screaming into the band’s sound. “It’s something I’ve always done live, but I found myself embracing that style on this album in a way I haven’t done in the past,” he explains. “Embracing those harsher vocals has been exciting for us creatively.”

In that spirit, the infectious track “Cellophane” sees Damiani alternate between melodic vocals and throat-shredding gasps while “Disappear” sees him using his voice as another instrument that parallels the vibe of the music, which ranges from dance-inspired to straight-up demonic. “This is probably our darkest album yet and it’s definitely lost some of the positivity of Amazing Things,” Damiani admits. “I’m a very positive person in general and I’m always trying to find silver linings, but that’s not a fix-all tool.” From the rising popularity of fascism in Europe to the genocide in Palestine, many of the lyrics on Nightmare Tripping were driven by Damiani’s attempt to cope with a world that seemed to be descending into chaos. That said, the album isn’t all doom and gloom. “One song that’s very important to me is ‘Pacify Me’; it’s about finding the courage in yourself to speak out about things that are important to you. Hopefully the song can provide some positivity to people who are feeling the same things as me.”

Nightmare Tripping also features some star-studded collaborations from the legendary rock act Nickelback (“Nightmare Tripping”) as well as Architects’ vocalist Sam Carter (“True Believers”). “I always had Sam in mind for ‘True Believers; ’it’s one of the angriest songs on the album and Sam stands for the same things that we do,” Damiani says. (Amazingly, Carter recorded his standout vocals for the song during the one day off he had back in the UK while supporting Linkin Park on their European tour.) The other notable collaboration came about because it turned out Nickelback were DON BROCO fans and reaching out to the band wanting to tour together. While the tour wasn’t able to happen due to logistical reasons, they were able to collaborate on this album for a song that further pushes the conventions of DON BROCO’s sound. Correspondingly, “Nightmare Tripping” both features a radio-ready chorus as well as earth-shaking breathdown that are certain to inspire mosh-pit theatrics around the world in a live setting.

Ultimately with Nightmare Tripping, DON BROCO have successfully redefined their sound while staying true to their past, something that Damiani credits to the deep connection its members have forged since starting the band as teenagers. “As a band all four of us have very strong feelings when it comes to our songwriting, which is why it can take so long to write a record compared to other bands,” he explains. “As long as we keep our communication open and allow everyone’s ideas to be heard, things work out for the best.” That ability to listen to each other and not be closed off to unorthodox ideas lies at the core of what makes Nightmare Tripping such a powerful and groundbreaking release. DON BROCO isn’t one person, it’s the cumulative vision of all of the members of the band—and it’s a message that the world very much needs to hear right now.

Synthpop, minimal wave, post-punk, goth, new romantic — fans and critics alike have dug deeply into their vintage thesauruses to describe the beguiling work of Nation of Language. And if you can’t precisely define the band, that’s the point. Frontman Ian Richard Devaney has become prodigious in expanding what synthesizer-driven music can evoke, such that his output is as much an extrasensory journey as it is an all-too-human destination. With that experience in mind, he wrote the band’s fourth album — the spectral, spacious Dance Called Memory — in the most humble of ways: chipping away at melancholia by sitting around and strumming his guitar. “It’s a great way to distract yourself,” he says, “when you are depressed.”

Nation of Language’s first two albums, Introduction, Presence (2020), and A Way Forward (2021), came as pandemic godsends: gorgeous, relatable soundtracks to our collective doldrums. But it was their last LP, Strange Disciple (2023), that catapulted the group from cultural standouts to critical darlings, with the album being named Rough Trade’s Album of the Year. With that release, Pitchfork wrote that the band “are learning what it means to get bigger and better.”

This is Devaney’s calling: soulfully translating individual despair into a comforting, collective mourning. This uncannily pervades the album. The single “Now That You’re Gone,” which radiates and reverberates with a devastating wistfulness, was inspired by witnessing his godfather’s tragic death from ALS, and his parents’ role as caretakers for this ailing friend. “To be a caretaker — transforming your home into a kind of hospital wing and structuring your life around the dire needs of another — is such a difficult, powerful act of love and friendship,” Devaney says. “It’s made more difficult by our economic system that doesn’t seem to value this in any way commensurate with how hard it is.” At its heart, the song is a reflection of how friends can be there for each other, and also highlights a theme throughout the record: the pain and lost promise of friendships that fall apart.

This concept is echoed in the track “I’m Not Ready for the Change,” referencing the psychic dyspepsia that repeatedly reincarnates throughout our lives. Says Devaney: “I came across a photo from a party — it was filled with couples that were no longer together, friends who had gone their separate ways. It wasn’t from very long ago, but the sheer impossibility of such a gathering struck me in the heaviest way. Sometimes it feels like the pages of life’s book are turning faster than you can comprehend them.”

In approaching the recording of Dance Called Memory, the band once again collaborated with friend and Strange Disciple producer Nick Millhiser (LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost!). “What’s so great about working with Nick is his ability to make us feel like we don’t need to do what might be expected of us, or to chase any particular sound,” says synth player Aidan Noell, who, along with bass player Alex MacKay, rounds out the Nation of Language lineup. As a result, they imbued Dance Called Memory with a shifted palette — sampling chopped-up drum breaks on “I’m Not Ready for the Change” for a touch of Loveless-era My Bloody Valentine, or smashing all of the percussion of “In Another Life” through a synthesizer to cast a shade of early-2000s electronic music.

Ultimately, the hope was to weave raw vulnerability and humanity into a synth-heavy album. “There is a dichotomy between the Kraftwerk school of thought and the Brian Eno school of thought, each of which I’ve been drawn to at different points. I’ve read about how Kraftwerk wanted to remove all of the humanity from their music, but Eno often spoke about wanting to make synthesized music that felt distinctly human,” Devaney says. “As much as Kraftwerk is a sonically foundational influence, with this record I leaned much more towards the Eno school of thought. That this thing should be as unvarnished and warm as possible. In this era quickly being defined by the rise of AI supplanting human creators I’m focusing more on the human condition, and I need the underlying music to support that.”

Despite the heavy themes at its core, Devaney insists, “Instead of hopelessness, I want to leave the listener with a feeling of us really seeing one another, that our individual struggles can actually unite us in empathy.”

Lately, it feels like the world is one endless bad news cycle. Joshua Idehen isn’t here to pretend otherwise – but on the spoken word artist’s new album, I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try, he provides a phenomenal sonic, poetic space. Made with his creative partner, musician Ludvig Parment, the album (out 6 March 2026) is an urgent but transcendent collection that holds you through it all, filled with grief, euphoria and hope.

I Know You’re Hurting… comes after the virality of Idehen’s track Mum Does The Washing, a wry and whipsmart poem examining how the world works (which started life as a Twitter thread), set to Parment’s spacious beats. The song has seen the pair propelled beyond Idehen’s wildest dreams this past year, with support from the likes of Jamz Supernova and Huw Stephens leading to sold-out shows and packed out festival performances including rammed crowds at Glastonbury and Green Man, an appearance on Later with Jools, and a support slot on Baxter Dury’s European tour this winter. For Idehen, this is all so special because it marked a new era of his career after around two decades of writing poetry. “In a nutshell, the song has changed my life,” he says.

British-born Nigerian Idehen had been more interested in film as a medium when he was younger. In fact, poetry was something he actively disliked back when he was studying at Hackney Community College and working in a bar in the West End. But one night when he got home from work and switched on Channel U, he was struck by Dizzee Rascal’s Vexed. “It had me in a trance, that kind of first person rant, stream of consciousness monologue, whatever you want to call it – but it sounds like him just pouring out, venting into the void.” And so, Idehen began to write, and over years of open mic nights and new connections, he became a need-to-know name in London’s poetry circuit.

Inspired by his peer Scroobius Pip, he quickly became intrigued by setting his poems to music, and so began work with bands including LV, Benin City and Calabashed, alongside recording guest features with the likes of Sons of Kemet and The Comet is Coming. Touring with these bands and “swirling around the UK jazz scene” helped build up Idehen’s confidence as a live performer in the late 2010s – but, around the same time, he was experiencing turbulence in his personal life, including his divorce and several suicide attempts thereafter. The Covid-19 pandemic began and Idehen moved to Stockholm, where he had the space to process all that was happening in his life.

“The calm and sedateness of Stockholm was exactly what I needed at the time,” he explains, “It helped me see the totality of myself. I was tired of being sad and ashamed, and mournful of the past, the life I'd had, feeling like the villain in my own life. My daughter was born and I reached a point where I didn't just want to make sad music anymore. I didn't just want to make music that was me feeling sorry for myself, or feeling sorry for the world.”

And so, Idehen began to contemplate pairing his poetry with something more uplifting: specifically, with dance music. “There has to be light at the end, something to hold onto,” he says. It was around this time that an old friend he’d met in London, Parment – also known as producer Saturday, Monday – reached out. The pair began a back and forth on what would become Don’t You Give Up On Me, a single which eventually became the opening song on their 2023 mixtape, Learn to Swim. For Parment, writing apart and then feeding back to each other made for a fruitful collaboration: “I would say we have kind of a sibling relationship…or an old couple, as some say. We’re very straightforward and aren’t afraid to fight for our creative ideas, but at the same time we really do listen to each other and are okay with being wrong sometimes. I love it because I always get to pursue my ideas, but I know there is a guard-rail if I get lost – and I think that goes both ways.”

Idehen compares their work together to Sade: the name of the band may be Joshua Idehen, but it is the two of them making the songs. This symbiotic collaboration continued into what would become I Know You’re Hurting…, a release which looks both inward and outward for redemption, trying to capture and store the moments of positivity that sometimes feel fleeting and assert that better times have to be coming. As they began to play shows with the new music, the direction they needed to take became clearer.

“When we started working together we had some idea of what we wanted the message to be and what kind of inspirations to draw on, but we didn’t really have a clear idea on how it would be consumed,” explains Parment, “But as we started touring we started learning a lot about the project; we realised that we prefer a standing audience to a sitting one, and we do want to make them dance at some point. So I think a big point for me was to make music that had depth and fit the themes of Joshua’s writing – but still make it danceable.”

Across the album, that means uplifting choirs, cozy samples and exuberant, sometimes house-tinged beats. “I am personally drawn to music that transports you to a place, or scene or mindset,” says Parment. This is topped with ruminative musings on morality and human connection; about the longer loves in life – like friendships, family – that sustain us. These come from Idehen and Parment, along with a host of friends and collaborators, including writers Leone Ross and Charlotte Manning, and vocalist Amanda Bergman, to help expand on the topics of the record without sounding preachy. Similarly, there are musical guests including saxophonist Pete Fraser and Shabaka Hutchings on flute, each helping to imbue the album with a rich warmth.

From the opening track You Wanna Dance Or What?, there are poignant stories about the possibilities of human connection – here, a memory of a stranger approaching Joshua when he was feeling low at a club in Leicester Square – set against Parment’s freeing beats. There are memories of sunrises on Hampstead Heath (It Always Was), celebrations of the liturgic power of the club (This Is The Place), affirmations that kept Idehen afloat in a particularly dark time (Brother), all dotted with his observations and notes from past conversations with people from all walks of life. On Choose Yourself, Idehen is not so interested in the hokey bath bomb self-care that has dominated discourse the past few years, but in reinforcing self-belief and self-worth – all while never getting too mawkish (see: lines like “Choose a balanced diet/Eat the rich!”). Everything Everywhere All At Once is a stunning exploration of the sliding doors moments of our lives, contemplating all the universes that exist within his daughter, followed by a choral reprise, singing a melody composed by Idehen. “I’m not confident with singing or songwriting, so when the choir sang something I had made and brought it back to me, I had proper tears.”

After years of honing his craft, I Know You’re Hurting, Everyone Is Hurting, Everyone Is Trying, You Have Got To Try finds Joshua Idehen’s pen reaching the next level. This is work that is truly arresting – but simultaneously, thanks to Parment’s soundscapes, it often makes you want to wave your arms in the air and dance. In these bleak times that try to push us all further apart, it’s a beautiful, powerful manifesto for hope and collectivism. As Joshua puts it: “There's a likelihood that we might be planting seeds that we won't get to see harvested…but the planting is good. The planting is just as important as the watering and the tending and the harvesting. We all have to play a part so that we can have some redemption.”

Buoyed by the joy of creating their 2022 album - Confidence - The Hoosiers are swaggering back through the saloon doors of the music industry with both barrels locked and loaded. Armed with their sixth album, Irwin Sparkes & Alan Sharland pick up where they left off; honing a more adult take on the jubilant sound that made a name for them back in 2007.

Reflections between the duo probed the question of why even bother to make an album - at considerable cost - in an age with scant regard for the form? “The conversation that had been picked up with fans following Confidence had taken on a momentum of its own and we were compelled not to lose something so valuable”, says Irwin. With Compassion, Al & Irwin wished to imbue the listener with this new-found sense of self-belief in what they do and who they are.

This time the question of how to focus the album was handled in a novel way: “Releasing an album into the world is like releasing your intentions so we wanted to approach it as if we had a genie offering us one wish”, says Al Sharland. “On a personal and political level, it’s apparent that we could all do with more compassion.” The way we talk to ourselves influencing how we talk to each other and thereby creating the world in which we live; this tied together the songs already written (‘Everybody Is A Little More Broken Than They Pretend To Be’, and ‘Don’t Hang Your Head’) with those that would be written with the concept of compassion in mind (‘Permission To Rest’).

Perhaps where compassion is needed the most is when it comes to people who don’t share our values and this is what the title track ‘Compassion’ is grappling with. “We love playing in this band more than ever and we feel so loved by the fans we have and this album is a big, stanky hug back to them”, clarifies Irwin. “We don’t just want to leave the world with better music than when we found it”, winks Al, “we want to leave it a more confident, compassionate spinning orb.” Compassion is out 15th May, available in all good book stores and car boots.

The HU are a fantastically unique force of nature. A musical sensation formed in 2016 in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, the quartet are the pioneers of the genre Hunnu Rock, with almost 900 million global streams to their name – and counting. 2019’s debut album The Gereg put them on the map: not just in their home country, where they were the first group ever to be awarded the prestigious Chinggis Khaan Order, but even a galaxy far, far away, contributing an original song to the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order soundtrack.

Two years later, their name sat alongside the likes of Elton John, St. Vincent and Ghost on the epic tracklist to The Metallica Blacklist record, performing a distinct, formidable cover of ‘Through The Never’ at the personal request of the metal legends. And 2022 follow-up album Rumble Of Thunder took The HU to iconic stages such as England’s Glastonbury Festival, and into North American arenas supporting Iron Maiden.

These captivating first two records made good on the band’s promise of sharing their beautiful heritage – indeed, their lyrics are entirely, and very deliberately, all in Mongolian. “If you learn the language and translate our lyrics, you’ll understand the context even more – the background of why we chose these words,” explains frontman Gala, who is the group’s throat singer and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) player. “Hopefully we will encourage people to speak more Mongolian and become interested Mongolian culture. It’s a very rich culture and it needs to be represented.”

Now, as The HU gear up for the release of their highly-anticipated third album in 2026, they’re taking things even further. Knuckling down to work at their second home of Nature Sound Studio in Ulaanbaatar – a place so familiar and comfortable that “sometimes we take off our shoes, it’s that level of freedom”, grins Gala – the band have been pushing their limits, describing this latest work as an “enriched” take on Hunnu Rock.

“We took our time to do this right, and I’m so glad that we’re almost ready to release what we have worked on these past few years,” Gala says. “As well as always staying true to ourselves, the most important thing for us is longevity. That has been the case since the beginning of the band. We don’t just want a song that will be in the charts for a week and then drop off. We want to create something that will last for decades.”

In the more immediate future, though, The HU have plotted a busy summer in Europe on their Incarnation tour, with slots at festivals such as France’s Hellfest, Germany’s Graspop Metal Meeting and Denmark’s Roskilde. Beyond that, they hope to return to the States, and “tour around the world” to celebrate a whole new era of the band.

“We are focusing on the performances and working out a brand-new setlist,” teases Gala. “We want to play bigger venues so we can do extensive production, and bring in some amazing elements of our culture, and play these ideas to our fans. As most people know, every year the Sports Rep organises the annual Water and Winter Sports Ball!

This year (as per tradition) it will be held at Carrow Road Football Stadium on Thursday 14th of May from 6pm-11:45pm. This has been a tradition for many years now and from experience, it has been one of the highlights of the year! It is an incredible way to end the year with friends from our sports with dancing, charity raffles and a bar.

So gather your sporting friends and let's have a great night!

Tickets are two per person, so plus ones are allowed!

Since forming in 2012, FREE THROW’s story has been simple: keep going. New records, longer tours, bigger rooms – it’s always been another step upward for the Nashville-based quintet, whose 2014 debut, Those Days Are Gone, has become an era-defining classic in the emo-punk genre, launching them onto global tours with Hot Mulligan and New Found Glory and slots at Slam Dunk, Riot Fest, and The Fest. Every milestone has pushed them ahead, but on their sixth LP, Moments Before The Wind (Wax Bodega), that constant charge gradually slows, suspended mid-step, mid-thought, mid-life.

Recorded with longtime producer Brett Romnes on either end of the sold-out Those Days Are Gone 10-year tour, the follow-up to 2023’s Lessons That We Swear To Keep chronicles a surrealist descent into liminality: a period of intense personal upheaval colored by loss, renewal, reflection, and, ultimately, life-altering joy through the impending birth of a child. The 11-song set is disarmingly real, colored by sonic spontaneity – a swirl of Midwest emo, sweat-soaked punk fervor, and crashing alternative rock – but also the sort of achingly vulnerable lyricism fans and critics have come to expect from the band. Through it all, Moments finds Free Throw still moving, still growing, but now, perhaps more than ever, acutely aware that the path ahead is neither straight nor obvious. There’s a quiet confidence guiding them there into a brand-new era, ready for whatever the wind blows their way.

CQ Wrestling are a British Grunge band led by two best friends and songwriters Charlie Woods and Jake Mac, delivering a fierce and melodic 90’s sound. Produced by Ali Chant (Perfume Genius, PJ Harvey, Yard Act), One More Thing is the culmination of a stellar run of singles and non-stop touring from Lime Garden since their emergence in 2021. Their hard-work has started to pay-off with soaring streaming listeners coinciding with sold-out shows up and down the country both headlining and in support of the likes of IDLES, The Big Moon, and Yard Act. One More Thing will be available in standard red vinyl, a special Dinked edition Cornetto vinyl, and a special Lime Garden edition blue vinyl.

Speaking about ‘I Want To Be You’, Lime Garden’s Chloe Howard said: “‘I Want To Be You’ was inspired by a very specific memory I have as a 14 year old at my first gig looking at the band playing and thinking, “do I Want to be you or be with you, or do I want both?”. This feeling has continued to raise its head on many occasions in my life, and it’s become quite an obsessive process at times. Growing up with social media and the constant ability to follow your idols, with access into ‘their world’, has fuelled this in an unhealthy way.”

“I’m the type of person who can get very deep into something, but now I try to channel that into something more constructive and real, like music and art. Recording this song was an attempt to emulate the feeling of true obsession through sound.”

Lime Garden played the British Music Embassy at this year’s SXSW festival and completed a packed summer of festival appearances across Europe, including Glastonbury where they were invited to play Billy Bragg’s Leftfield Stage. In 2022, Lime Garden were nominated for the prestigious ANCHOR award at the Reeperbahn festival.

With each release, Lime Garden have continued to further their reputation as one of indie’s hottest prospects with a host of tips behind them from NME’s 100, Dork’s Hype List, DIY’s Class of, The Sunday Times Culture’s Breaking Act, and The Independent’s New Sensations. The band also received a glowing endorsement from Paramore’s Hayley Williams on her special Everything Is Emo show on BBC Radio 6 Music.

Over the course of Lime Garden’s punchy debut record One More Thing, we’re granted exclusive access to the sonic diary of four best friends as they come of age. “I feel like you can hear us growing up in the songs,” says vocalist and rhythm guitarist Chloe Howard. The indie-electro band (completed by Leila Deeley (lead guitar), Tippi Morgan (bass) and Annabel Whittle (drums)) have been making music together since they were 16, releasing since 2020 and garnering support from 6 Music, NME and The Independent. Proud Kentucky rockers, Black Stone Cherry, emerge from a challenging few years triumphantly with a behemoth of an album, Screamin’ At The Sky (Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group), out now. The four-piece band’s eighth album explodes with urgently-emotive pop-rock hooks; heartfelt, redemptive lyrics; headbanging riffs; powerful dynamics; thunderous drums; and its most thrilling musicianship yet. The 12-song collection is also BSC’s biggest and best sounding album. The self-produced studio record was tracked at a classic Kentucky theater, and it sounds like the guys are smashing down the hammer of the gods.

“The thesis of this record is adapting and moving on. In the last few years, a lot of what I knew from childhood went away. I lost my father, and now I am the oldest living man in my family,” says vocalist/guitarist Chris Robertson. He continues: “There is a lot of darkness on this album—I bared my soul—but it always foreshadows light at the end of the tunnel.” Adds guitarist/backing vocalist Ben Wells: “We see something beautiful letting pain out—you come out a better person.”

In the past two decades, Black Stone Cherry has set a new standard for Southern rock, revitalizing the tradition with its burly riffs and stirring rock hooks. Since its formation in 2001, the four-piece brotherhood has remained Chris Robertson, vocals/guitar; Ben Wells, guitar/vocals; and John Fred Young, drums. Today, the band welcomes its dear friend Steve Jewell Jr. on bass/backing vocals. Steve is formerly of the blues-rock band OTIS who has opened for BSC many times. “I grew up around this music. Every time we play ‘Lonely Train,’ I remember driving with my dad and hearing it on the radio. I get emotional thinking about it,” Steve says. John Fred chimes in: “Steve is the young kid in the band—he doesn’t have as many wrinkles! He’s a monster player, and we have this insane chemistry with him.”

BSC’s last album, The Human Condition, released on October 30th, 2020 through Mascot Records, was their sixth consecutive No. 1 debut on the UK Rock Albums chart. The album’s lead single, “Again,” was the band’s biggest single in over 10 years in America, peaking at #15, and it was BSC’s highest charting record ever in Canada, also landing in the Top 15. The album racked-up 50 million streams worldwide, and “Again” amassed 20 million streams total.

Over the years, BSC has both headlined and rocked 12,000-cap arena shows and shared the stage with a diverse roster of superstars, including Alter Bridge, Theory of a Deadman, Def Leppard, Gov’t Mule, Nickelback, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Mötorhead, Halestorm, Stone Temple Pilots, The Darkness, and ZZ Top. In 2018, BSC performed in front of 100,000 people at the Download Festival as main support to Guns N’ Roses. In 2021, the band played the UK’s venerated Royal Albert Hall, immortalized on 2022’s live DVD Live From The Royal Albert Hall…Y’All.

Screamin’ At The Sky features all-new material written collaboratively while on tour. When it came time to record, BSC decided to try something it’s always dreamed of doing: tracking an album at The Plaza Theater in Glasgow, Kentucky, a legendary 1020-seat venue built in 1934 that boasts meticulous acoustics. “Every time we played the Plaza we wondered what it would sound like to record drums there. We finally decided to put all our eggs in one basket,” Chris says.

In June of 2022, the band rented the theater and brought its trusty engineer, Jordan Westfall, and all its recording equipment into the theater, setting up the basement as the control room and the stage as the live drum room. John Fred tore through his drum tracks like a beast, and they ended up sounding mountainous. Chris and Ben had time to record guitars in the theater before heading out on tour. Those tracks also sounded richly dynamic, and the rest of Screamin’ At The Sky was finished post-tour at the theater and at John Fred’s makeshift home studio.

Time between recording sessions, and incredible room ambience have resulted in a career high watermark for BSC. Screamin’ At The Sky bursts open with the title track which kicks off with the feral roar of dimed amps in a big open space. Then a bruising riff cycles through punctuated by what can be best described as John Bonham-sized drums in a sleek modern rock context. For the chorus, Chris delivers one of his finest performances, managing to be raw-nerved emotional but also smoothly melodic. “My idea for the chorus is a bunch of friends around a campfire screaming their pain away,” Chris says.

He is courageously autobiographical on the anthemic, “Nervous,” which opens with the lyrics: Memory lane, it’s ‘85, a baby boy with big blue eyes/And promises just waiting to be broken. The song balances slamming hard rock riffage with moody clean-guitar verses, reflective singing, and meticulously-crafted vocal melodies that gracefully rise until climaxing into an urgently-melodic chorus.

The barnburners continue with “When The Pain Comes,” an uplifting modern rock statement on confronting life’s challenges without succumbing to the pain. “That’s about digging your heels in the dirt and staying strong,” John Fred says. The single, “Out Of Pocket,” became something of an instant classic when the guys debuted it on their UK tour last summer. It epitomizes the band’s prowess at mixing sweetly weary verses with incendiary choruses. BSC lighten things up with “Smile, World,” a brawny sing-along about not taking life too seriously.

Screamin’ At The Sky has been a catharsis for Black Stone Cherry, and the quartet is savoring the calm after the storm. “A lot of bands would have thrown in the towel, but we came out the other side with some of the best music we’ve ever made,” Ben enthuses. Chris concludes: “ We’re in a great space—this band is as much as a family as it’s ever been.”
